It's an error to assume that these people will reach high consciousness. 

Raising consciousness is already difficult when you're on the right path.

Once you've chosen the wrong path, things are to the point of no return.. 

Think of it this way. If you're trying to save money, and you're still looking how to save enough, it's already tough for you to build wealth even if you have just begun.

But if you're a gambler and you love to spend money dangerously, you've already lost the plot..

Yeah the depiction of Conspiracy Theories in popular culture doesn't feel as benign as it did back during the era of X-Files and Twin Peaks.

Up until five or ten years ago it was a lot easier to just kind of laugh off Conspiracy Theories, since most people didn't take them seriously. It becomes a much more frightening idea when Conspiracy Nutjobs begin amassing political power, and a direct line can be drawn between Conspiracy Beliefs and political radicalization.

Feels cringe AF these days when Conspiracy Nutjobs are getting elected to High Office, and Conspiracy Theories are fueling political violence and causing thousands of preventable deaths during a pandemic.

Yeah exactly, they used to be this kinda goofy and mostly harmless thing people would laugh at. They Live is a fun movie too but it's kinda hard to enjoy now knowing some clown is using it to fuel their delusions.

Same here. In a different world They Live would be a fun kitshy 80s movie along the lines of something like Running Man or Total Recall, but such is the insanity of the times we live in that you can draw a direct line between the Paranoia represented in something like They Live and fascists storming the capitol. Or the thousands of preventable Covid deaths directly linked to Conspiratorial Delusions.

Oh for sure. I'd say it's quite explicit in the anti-corporate and anti-authoritarian themes it's trying to convey, but unfortunately that hasn't prevented the movie from being co-opted by right wing Conspiracy Theorists under the sway of an Authoritarian Cult of Personality. Probably by some of the same dummies on the Alt-Right who quote '1984' while being ignorant of the fact that George Orwell was a Democratic Socialist.

Yeah for sure, but to the average Q will twist and turn it any way they can to fit their world narrative. They see the money'd elites in it not as a criticism of capitalism as intended but instead zionist pedo globalist aliens that want to turn everyone into slaves and eat them lol. I'm pretty sure the movie was made as a sort of retort to Regan economics which these guys idolize
