@Preety_India ranked choice voting

Even that's not a good option. It's excruciating. And confusing at best. Most people want only 1 candidate and not a list of preferences

It leads to "spoiled for choice" dilemma.

It's going to be a mess either way  "democracy is the worst form of government except for all the others"

But he two party system is just very divisive, it's either this or that, black or white.

And there isn't even a party which is anti war etc.

But also take the money out of it, give each party a set amount that they can use for the election and equal advertising on TV

That would be seen as too socialist, sadly.

I don't know much about other EU country, but in France you have equal advertising on tv, which helps a lot.

(Even though most of the times, it's the same two parties who win)

All Teachers and Teachings are delusion. You have all the answers within you. The first step on the journey to Enlightenment is questioning all the beliefs and teachings you have ever received. Teachers/Teachings are a distraction/maya at the highest level. There comes a point where you need to trust in your own innate knowledge and derive your own insights into the nature of reality. Teachers make a living and lifestyle of selling you water by the river. You don’t need them. All you need is an insatiable desire for truth and then seriously contemplate reality and uncover all that is false.

We have the same in the UK, they have what they call 'party political broadcasts' at set times, usually around 7 or 8pm on normal TV. Each party gets the same amount of time and they cant advertise on TV or radio. I think they maybe allowed billboards but im not sure, i havent seen them recently anyway. I might go as far as to say there is no advertising outside of the assigned ones. Where they do go crazy is the tabloid newspapers (The Sun, The Mirror etc) each one has an obviously biased political stance, Murdoch owned a couple of them in fact. Even these have a massive effect on voters so i cant imagine the effect it has in America.

The other thing is the amount of time campaigns last for, in the US i think its a year or something in the UK its basically a month or 2

I think this sums up everything pretty well:

The below map is based on states with current leads. And based on current data, this is the most likely map. (A recount has been ordered in GA).

Biden would have 306 EVs, the exact number Trump had in 2016. Yet Biden would also win the popular vote by 4m, which Trump lost by 3m. In terms of states won, it is actually very close to 538s prediction (yet the margins were narrower).

I'm curious: Did anyone predict in this thread predict this map?

One thing to note, is that all those psychology bias are way more easier to use on people with lower cognitive capabilities, which is a reflection of the environment they live in, which they don't fully have control (you don't control where you are born, who your parents are etc ...).

So it's important not to demonize those people, they are only "stupid" because, in a sense they have to.

Trump is just intuitively pushing all those buttons because (funnily enough) it is a reflection of his own inabilities to not fall for those traps himself.

We are VERY lucky to live in the part of the world we live to be able to see through that, don't forget that :)

Trump campaign, which has initiated a legal blitz in swing states, has already announced that it will request a recount in Wisconsin, where President Donald Trump trails Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden by about 20,000 votes. Wisconsin law allows for a candidate to request a recount if the margin in the race is within 1 percent.

Philly reactions Biden taking the lead in Pennsylvania this morning.

The "Dancing In the Streets" comment refers to a classic Motown song that referenced Philadelphia, by Martha and the Vandellas. They were an African American girl group formed in Detroit in 1957.

In 2016, urban voters were partially blamed for Trump's win. This year, urban voters turned out big time in predominately black cities like Milwaukee, Atlanta, Detroit and Philadelphia - to tip those states to Biden.

It's an invitation across the nation
A chance for folks to meet
There'll be laughing, singing, and music swinging
Dancing in the street

Philadelphia, PA (dancing in the street)
Baltimore and D.C. now (dancing in the street)
Can't forget the Motor City (dancing in the street)

All we need is music, sweet music (sweet music)
There'll be music everywhere (everywhere)
There'll be swinging, swaying, and records playing
Dancing in the street

Is anyone getting tired or bored of this election yet? It's been 3 full days and it isn't ending. A part of me is like 'Just declare the winner and call it a day already! How long do you want to drag this on?'

Philadelphia is now dancing to the theme song of Trump's rallies: "YMCA". (Second video below).

Trump got absolutely destroyed in Philly and the Philly suburbs.

Politics needs to just be really boring for a while.

I think that we all need to get ahold of our attention spans and learn to meditate, breathe, keep an open mind and go offline for long enough periods of time to break addiction cycles. Then hopefully we can actually have a conversation instead of this react/react, clash/clash, assume/assume pattern so many of us are stuck in. I know that for myself, it's been really difficult to focus this past week.

To me focus is giving my attention to what I want, not what I don't want. Constant checking of my Facebook feed and news sites make it almost impossible to maintain, maybe that's just where I'm at. We need to be able to have the capacity to stay open and not get triggered as if we are bored while not avoiding important, stimulating subjects. If we can't, I guess we need to just drop it.

I'm starting to believe that meditation is essentially the answer to everything. If awareness precedes all knowing, awareness is the only real "knowing" there ever could be. You can't outsource your source.

On the morning after the election, I had not expected Biden to win, but I had this waking dream where I was a woman thinking about what I'd need to pack to move into the white house. xD
