This guy is gonna change US politics

20 posts in this topic

I recommend watching this interview of Dr. Abdul El-Sayed running for US Senate.

He's young, charismatic, and a great male role-model. He's intelligent, IQ-wise, and displays empathy for those in his community, both through his words and track-record.

He is solid green and I'd dare to say has rays of yellow piercing through in the way he thinks about issues and problem-solving. While he still frames things in terms of corporations vs people (which is mostly accurate green framing on the topic of wealth concentration), it's worth noting he also goes into how he's derived his values and how many of them are principle-based. Plus he campaigns like a fuckin bull and when he wins his Senate seat, he will have earned it.

The part I think many are missing though is he's not just running to be in Congress. If you pay attention to the way he's campaigning and what he's actually talking about, you can see 1) he's thought deeply about America and her problems, 2) he's painting a new, uniting philosophy that regrounds us in the Constitutional Framers' vision, but from our current vantage point, and 3) he actually knows how to market his vision to make it click into voters' realities (which has been a big downfall for 99% of democrats and progressives, post-Obama).

In this very interview he talks about trying not to be ideological itself. Not that he's as good as a mystic at doing it, but it's a breath of fresh air to see a political candidate thinking more in the direction of truth while strongly rejecting corruption and bullshit every chance he gets.

He's got a strong brand and an excellent vision behind it. Plus, he's got real swag. Like, REAL, alpha swag.

You cant change a whole country with one person, much less do it overnight. But with Abdul I see something different. He goes meta and outside of the box in his thinking.

He's awesome. Vote blue no matter who this midterm — make Trump a lame duck president.

Last chance to vote is today and tomorrow.

Amen.

Somehow raging about Repubs became more popular than generating momentum with good Dems, even in this forum.

Drama is clickbait. It's a distraction. The real gold is recognizing we are seeing a generational talent and throwing everything behind him instead of worrying about the orange clown talking about men's asses at his rallies.

He has a good vibe.

Definitely quite Green in his thinking. Which is not bad per se. That’s mostly what America needs to advance right now.

Not sure. On one hand he’s a Muslim and a lot of Americans distrust Muslims. He’s also very left wing on some issues which turns off centrists but also centrist in some areas which can turn off far left people.

On the other hand, he does have impressive favorables despite a enormous amount of money being spent attacking him. He got through the most expensive vicious dem primary and since has weathered like 150 million spent against him crammed in half a year and is still net positive.

His campaign choices have been half smart and half dumb. He skillfully leveraged his medical career to appeal to healthcare concerns which dems poll best on and deflected the pressure from Stevens to condemn things, but he also campaigned with Hasan Piker which let them put all his baggage on him and keeps posting cringey dances on tiktok that makes him seem unserious but maybe counters the fearmongering.

Islam succeeded to invade US using their democracy.
Good luck US in the next 4 years, I mean it.

IDK much about him but he comes across as brash, belligerent, and like he doesn't play well with others. Maybe that style can be effective, but I could see a cult of personality forming around him, which the left needs to avoid.

He talks a good game and I'm definitely for him, but there's not enough data yet.

What if this is just fascination + identity + seriousness being inflated into universal importance?

Except the last time that happened was Obama and the left has been getting their ass kicked since he left, until now.

As much as I still like and respect Obama, he wasn't enough of a fighter like FDR and the New Deal Democrats were.

Hopefully this new crop of Democratic leaders truly fight like hell against the oligarchy and corporate extremism in a real class war.

I think Ossoff's style is more effective. He very effectively calls out the right's bullshit without the arrogance of El-Sayed. People (myself included) like El-Sayed for his style right now, but I could see it becoming toxic down the road.

He could become the left's favorite politician while becoming the right's most-hated. That's the same situation we've been in with Trump, and it's just not effective or sustainable. The left needs figures who know how to appeal to the right, not someone who delights in calling them dumb fucks.

Well said.

I'm not well acquainted with El-Sayed but his tactics do seem immature. I do, however, like his policies.

Let's not stick it to the right, let's serve the whole of the American people.

Yeah, you see that name calling with a lot of political commentators on the left. They forgot that when Hillary used the term "deplorables", it was actually partly responsible for causing some people to turn away from the democrats.

What you said in bold was word for word what some Fox host said (3:03-3:09).

Not saying you're wrong though. In the last debate I felt he was a bit over-aggressive.

What actually matters is deliverence. What will he do in the Senate? Can he be a good strategist and accomplish things?
