True because immature masculinity represses emotions.

I was led to belief that masculinity sort of IS repression of emotions.

You have got a challenge, lets say a dangerous one, you feel all sorts of ways about it, for example scared. That feeling of being scared would lead you to run away. However lets say running away would endanger people you love. So you push that feeling of being scared away, create a sort of fearless alter ego to rise up to the challenge and handle it like a men. And that sort of dynamic not just in this particular situation but chronically to face lifes challenges. NO?

Emotional repression in the short term to deal with an immediate threat is valuable. In the long run it will eat you alive.

So is that where you would draw the line between toxic and healthy masculinity?

That is only because you live in a civilization that allows you to have freedoms and luxuries.

If you were living in a tribe in Africa, you would have no such options.

We also talking about averages, not edge-cases.

The intrinsic drive (whether it comes from very early childhood or something else) is often enough a separate from having a reality which might force motherhood upon you. I do not myself think the drive to not have children, especially if you just "know" with certainty what you want at a young age, is the result of being raised in a society where having children is seen more as an option (even if many people frown upon that option).

And in any case, if I wanted to get technical for argument's sake: there are a number of cultures deemed "primitive" in different times and places that have been known to place exemptions on people like me for my various "gifts", spiritual and not. If I got lucky, I would be born into such a culture, and have key people on my side, and I would be able to leverage whatever social status and abilities I have while somehow managing to offer plenty of social value otherwise. I would make myself more of a loss to not to have in the community rather than someone who is more valued because I've been forced to do a thing.

Or even more conveniently, I shall conveniently """manifest""" infertility while also doing the above, haha.

I would find a way like my life depended on it. If not, with my personality. It would surely be a bad end for me. I've mellowed out a lot, but I would probably literally claw my eyes out (and at anyone else who happens to get in my way) rather than endure forced birth, if that's what it actually came down to. I have had the tendency to fall completely into states where I do not feel any pain or fear whatsoever. But it even in those more primitive societies, we still have the same core hardware. Social influence usually outranks the right to use brute force even there. And people are still inclined to do risk-reward analysis to determine if dealing with such a person is worth it; instinctively, we know that cornered animals can be very dangerous. So can cornered people.

And some of us can only tolerate so much domestication lol. Woman or not.

I mean it isn't a clear cut line, but yea, it's one aspect of it.

@eos_nyxia we can philosophise about this stuff today because we afford to. Women can become men and vice versa. Women can choose to not have children, men choose to stay at home etc.. but if you put us back into our natural environment, with no technology, nothing... We will embrace the role that our biology suits us for.

That doesn't mean we have to still live like that in our techno-society, but we need to be aware of where we are coming from. We are different but we also are very adaptable.

We notice women doing a great job as leaders. There are more women in leading political roles than men in Sweden. When men are weak, women become men and take their roles. We adapted, but that doesn't mean it is optimal.

Yes, of course. Men are forced to not feel in order to get the hard things done. But this makes men callous and unfeeling.

That is the cost of being a man.

But thats simply because physical strength matters much more much if you have only primitive tools and so naturally men will take on physically demanding tasks and will built a personality that fits this role. But the root is simply muscle, nothing more.

Thats an is-ought fallacy. Just because it is/ was a certain way doenst mean it was good/ should remain that way/ or doesnt have equally good or better alternatives.

Women in the tribal era would probably be considered more masculine than most men if they were around today

Then I dont understand your comment without elaboration. How do you put masculinity and not repressing emotions together?

Oh my God, when some car mechanic or construction worker or something like that comes to me as a patient... They are emotional bricks. It is like talking to Optimus Prime.

Right. Well, you become less masculine and more balanced by integrating the feminine.

The mistake is trying to be too masculine or too feminine. You need a good balance, which makes you less stereotypically either. This gets you less sex, but you are happier being more balanced.

It's true, it really does get you less sex. Women are brutal about "feminine men" and find it wildly unattractive. So to continue getting laid you can't act feminie. Personally I'll pay that price to keep getting sex, I also enjoy being masculine.

I think if you find a partner who is feminine you can actually stay in your masculine and she balances you out. Then you don't have to be feminine.

That's not a real solution.

That's a bandaid over a deeper problem.

You cannot understand Reality without empathy and no one can do it for you.

Empathy and femininity are the not the same thing.  The trick for a man is to learn to have feelings but not so much that we are slobbering on her shoulder everyday.  Once in a while is good.  But women will start taking this as weakness if we are always as emotional as them.  If they want that they can call their girlfriends.

Because of non dual's logic the act of wanting to be masculine is anti-masculine.

Not really. Many soyboys find girlfriends nowadays. Women are confused, they don't know what they want so they follow the herd. They have sex with whatever is trending atm.

This is bad advice. Just be normal, don't play macho and shit. Be fun, take initiative, work on body language, tonality, face expression eye contact

Recently i've been meeting so many women (btw who have husbands and boyfriends) and complain to ME, sometimes only a few hours after meeting them about how there is no polarity or attraction in their relationship because the men are too emotional and clingy. The irony of course is that they pressure men to be emotional and vulnerable (not in a malicious way it's just how they connect) but this slowly turns them into mommy and dries up their attraction to him. Next thing you know they are talking to me about it.
