Can creatine cause insomnia?

17 posts in this topic

Yes.

If I use over 10g a day, I cannot get to sleep. Also, I require so much additional water at that intake level, I end up needing to piss all night - further compounding sleep issues.

Try reducing your intake to figure out what amount gives you benefits with minimal drawbacks. 5g for me.

No facial bloating. No water retention. Creatine causes additional weight, but it is all intramuscular. So your muscles end up looking fuller.

Everyone reacts differently though. Some people are poor responders

You're trying to steal my role as the new Nahm.

Watch out things are going to get ugly.

Anything stimulating / energy increasing tends to make it harder to fall asleep.

I can't take much more than 5g a day myself. Often I take closer to 3g with no issues at all.

Otherwise, I tend to get mild to moderate headaches (whereas these days I usually get none at all), and my stomach feels very off. I'm used to my body being very sensitive/ picky though, I suspect that for many people 5-10+ grams is fine.

Why not go the long-term route and take the usual dose consistently — muscles will sature in a month.

What if I take 5g consistently, but I stop for a little while when the container is empty to give my body some time off of it? It's quite an expensive routine, if you think about it...and all "just" to store more water in your muscles.

I wouldn't take it if that's the benefit you want?
