Hyperion is an interesting sci-fi novel. Better than Dune I would say.

Dune was a bit of a slog at times, very slow to start.

I'll check Hyeperion out - have you read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (Philip K Dick, Blade Runner was based on it)?

Trying to gauge your taste to find overlap :D

That's a short story. Have not read. I do not like the Bladerunner story at all. It's all about visual vibes.

Alestair Reynolds writes very good sci fi short stories.

I like the Valerian sci fi graphic books a lot. They are charming. 5th Element was based off them. I own the entire series.

Throwing me curveballs trying to gauge your taste >.<

The Valerian movie by Luc Besson was shit - but I'll check the graphic novels out also.

Love The Fifth Element - my favourite movie.

Leo, any recommendations for Science Fantasy? (Science Fiction + Fantasy)

I've become somewhat dissatisfied with Science Fiction and Fantasy as either choice is a binary between the best of both worlds. Really want a combo but can only think of Warhammer 40k

Yes, it was bad.

Not the true Valerian.

I love SciFi Novels, I'm about to finish reading Alastair Reynolds' "Pushing Ice". It's great. I'll read "House of Suns" next.

I'm so uneducated on novels, my reading is very developmental biased so the few novels I've read were on that angle. Hesse and Tolstoy are good in that line.

I enjoyed very very much: Narcissus and Goldmund. It was a recommendation by my uncle who is a psychologist and I think it's very relevant to our work. Very profound implicit novel, you can draw many conclusions between the lines.

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty.  We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Wise, Virtuous and AWAKE. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life GOD is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, because The Sun shines through All: Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

I love how you're able to express emotion in your writing. I see it in your posts. I can feel what you're saying.

Thank you for the feedback - I appreciate it :)

I think, maybe... perhaps? It is a result of extensive reading. And working in professional fields. Novels, fiction. Self help. Classic literature, scientific papers and studies.

I try to strike a balance between clarity, earnestness and expression. I do get told I can be unprofessional. But fuck that. I see no reason to delete my personality because I have to work with consultants, clients, architects and contractors. I refuse to capitulate to formal English in professional spheres 😈

@Jacko 2nding Shantaram!

@Husseinisdoingfine 2nding American Psycho!

@Magnanimous Have you read Dune? It might be up your alley. The first part of the book prior to arrival on Arrakis is difficult, and Frank Herbert really throws you in the deep end with the world (very little exposition). But I enjoyed it.

@Basman

Dude, Not everything is about learning. You can learn from novels, maybe better, maybe worse, I won’t get into that, but you completely miss the point.

By reading novels you get immersed into different mindsets, views on the world, and you get to be fully in with your emotions sometimes. And now the most important part:

It’s fun

@Erol Pleasure 😁

The meaty discussion that ensued was mighty entertaining - and lead to some new novels for myself to feast on.

Enjoy!
