Do spiritual people lie to themselves?

8 posts in this topic

I see spiritual people online lying to themselves. Personally I lie to myself all the time, and the paradox is that I became so good at it that I know when I lie to myself and I still believe the lie (it's very weird if you think of it).

I am begining to question how ''moral'' spiritual people are. I would say that they are more honest and moral than the average person (probably) but still very selfish and lying to ourselves.

Think of it, if you believe everything is One and life is ultimately Meaningless and Infinity is nothing, then you wouldn't be able to function. It would be so difficult knowing that you will experience unimaginalbe pain worse than you have read or seen in movies or experienced in life, that people in Africa get taken advantage by powerful people and they are poor and full of war and suffering, innocent people getting k*lled there all the time and we do nothing to help them while supposedely knowing that we are them. Why on earth you/I don't want to help yourself/myself. And you wouldn't be able to function knowing that (according to Leo) your total experience of infinity is actually zero, that is what we called death, happiness equals suffering , not happiness > suffering. I know that spiritual people say that nihilism means no negative meaning but be honest with yourself, do you function with zero meaning after learning the Truth?

I see me lying to myself, I see Leo lying to himself, I see members of this forum lying to themselves. We all lie to ourselves to fundumental aspects of Truth. How can we trust spiritual people when all spiritual people lie to themselves? How can you find a spiritual person that doesn't lie to himself and then to others but also what would be the point of finding such person if in the end I am going to lie to myself anyway and deny aspects of reality that include unimaginable pain and death?

Denying, lying, seeing reality as better than it is, it seems to me that we all do that even here. What's the point of believing we are spiritual then? we are just kind of better than average people, nothing more.

Do you lie to yourself? How you live after learning the Truth? or perhaps you don't believe the truths Leo told? Do you believe spiritual people are more moral or sensitive than the average person?

It's a matter of acceptance, you can freak out about all of this and it won't change a thing only make it worse, so I just choose to ignore and carry on

I  at first posted something that was too doxxy, sorry!

The punchline tho, was that most of us are "good" simply because we aren't in situations where survival necessitates being "bad," (unless we were , like, sociopaths or psychopaths or something).

You are right in a sense .. but keep in mind we can’t actually contribute to helping people in Africa or the Middle East or any war zone that much . The best we can do is to find good donation sites and drop few hundred dollars.  And who told you that we don’t embody our realization of our shared being with all that there is ? Some people choose to stop eating animal products mainly because of this. I myself can’t stand hurting anyone in my life without immediately apologizing to them and asking them for forgiveness because I know that I’m only hurting myself  if I hurt others . Stop being concerned about what other people do in This regard and start doing it yourself. Be the change you wish to see.

"When you get very serious about truth you accept your life situation exactly as it is. So much so that you aren't childishly sitting around wishing it were otherwise. If you were confined to a wheelchair you would just accept it as how reality is. Just as you now just accept that you are not a bird who can fly."

The only way to avoid lying to yourself is to not tell yourself anything.

This work is not about believing you are spiritual. It is about becoming more conscious of your mind and Reality. If you are doing that, you are doing spiritual work.

You don't need to be perfect at it. That is a silly expectation. You are merely being asked to become more self-aware. You will fail at it many, many times. But you will also make lots of progress, if you try.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Blaming everyone else, including yourself for lying, is definitely an unstable state to be in.

Maybe you're lying to us about people lying?

There are lies and there are truths. There are also people who lie and people who tell the truth. That is what drives the wheels of karma, or you can say allows for a balance in the world of relativity. Science and logic are filters that separate lies from truth. So anyone claiming he or she is infinite, with them being part of the finite spacetime, are clearly lying. Another reason is that the Infinite cannot fully know Itself (I can share with you evidence that full self-knowledge is not possible). And so that is a perfect example of how Greed knows no ends. Therefore, trust science and logic, not people's claims, because sometimes they lie.

It's about recognizing the illusion of knowing that is between our minds (finite) and the known (Illusion of Duality).
