I think Leo is quite patient and egoless for tolerating people questioning him all the time lazily without offering any other credible viewpoint nor really offering value at the same scale. Nobody is perfect, even Jesus is just a dude that preached for a while and then got killed without chancing too much about the world and he's supposedly god himself in human form. Even God lets so much suffering and abuse happen in the world.

Do you perceive gratitude and criticism as opposites?

I think it is a mark of maturity to hold both simultaneously. Refusing to acknowledge flaws because you feel gratitude can become a form of loyalty bias.

@Carl-Richard summarised a pattern of behaviour without comment.

And if you read the thread - it was coming from a place of concern IE are you okay Leo?

Or, raising awareness.

I think how we understand this thread is a reflection of our emotional reaction to observation, rather than the observation itself.

I don't think highlighting all of someone's flaws without taking into account their strengths especially publicly is disrespectful. I wouldn't keep someone like that on my team. Sounds like a liability.

The vaste majority of the quotes shared in the opening post are not offensive to serious people. I can see how the first one is intentionally put first to trigger the reader and make the rest seem worse than they are. 
 

If death is infinity then obviously it would make you more conscious than a living human… why is that an issue? 
 

Other than that these are Leo’s views, opinions on other teachers and his own understanding speaking to individuals who we don’t know what they were saying when he responded or whether or not those people understood their points.

 

I speak to you guys and read your comments. Leo is more right than you guys on the matters he speaks on…  His epistemology as a whole is stronger than any of you here. And, it’s stronger than those teachers he listed in the comments in the opening sections. 
 

Not to say those teachers don’t offer things Leo doesn’t. But…. Leo’s work is overall stronger. This suggests he has a deeper, broader and more robust understanding. 
 

Some of you guys don’t even really know what Non-duality is, yet you’ll preach it. Some of you don’t know what the function of Buddhism is, yet you get upset when someone says it’s not God Realization. There is so much messiness here but you can’t even see it and when Leo points it out you cry fowl.

Sure, it does offer a lot of value. It's also a way to obtain power and status in a community. And then quoting all the bad things the owner has said in the community is another way to gain more status. I don't know Carl I haven't put too much thought into his behaviour overall on the forum but this post rubs me personally the wrong way.

I hope he messaged Leo and/or hopped on a call with him before he posted this and perhaps Leo has been closed off to criticism I haven't read through the whole thread but if not I stick by it : I would ban his disrespectful and unprofessional ass.

I can't speak for Carl but glory and status is the last thing I look for or want. I would prefer to be a mod without the green.

I look at my position as a way to give back to Leo in a way that speaks louder than words

My point wasn't to paint all moderators with a single brush. My critique is strictly operational: when internal friction gets weaponized publicly, it drains the engine. But I appreciate your energy on this platform and respect where you're coming from Natasha.

To be clear I didn't feel accused - I just felt like clarifying my position.

I often joke around about being power hungry and loving to dish out discipline - but it is in jest 100%. My jokes about power, taken out of context (and if someone is a bad faith actor wrt me), could easily be twisted to believe whatever that person may wish. I cannot control that, but maybe I can steer the dialogue somewhat. Ultimately I have no control whatsoever. I feel quite bad when having to use corporal punishment via moderation tools or hard words. I like & respect many of the members more than they like me - which I am okay with. But all too often the moderation position is conflated with me as a person. 

Which is some of the essence of the topic at hand - the conflation around Leo as a person and the teacher position.
