Anyone ever read The Millionaire Fastlane?

16 posts in this topic

The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco explains three financial paths people follow.

The Sidewalk is living with no financial plan—spending everything you earn and staying vulnerable to money problems.

The Slowlane is the traditional advice: get a job, save slowly, invest for decades, and hope to retire rich at 65.

The Fastlane focuses on building businesses or systems that scale, create value for many people, and generate income not tied directly to your time.

The key Fastlane principles are Control, Entry, Need, Time, and Scale (CENTS)—guidelines for building a business that can grow wealth faster.

The book’s main message is that by creating scalable value instead of trading time for money, you can potentially reach financial freedom much earlier than the traditional path.

What do you think? Basically, I just want to build my business and make everything about that business. I am tired of working for others. Is this book the best guide to that?

I just saw it, looks promising.

Do you get any value out of that community? Are there valuable discussions?

Not really. I am trying to build some apps that fit the principles but so far I've only been a freelancer.

Yes I have.

I have read think and grow rich first which gave me the inspiration for my business.

Than his book inspired me to take action of quitting my job.

I than created my value that can be scaled.

In this aspect the book helped me realise that fastlane wealth is scaleable and not effort/time required.

I have an unpopular opinion without reading the book...

fastlanes are overrated and slow lanes and underrated, The idea of getting things fast is great for selling books but relies too much on luck.

You can do a lot on slow lanes just need 2 decades of consistent work and no BS.

Fastlanes promise getting there faster, but unless you get lucky will end up wasting a lot of time on short term solutions that don't work.

Since you didn't read it - slowlane refers to working and saving money. You can't get rich that way.

Not to actual business that might or might not take time.

@pablo_aka_god doubling what Michal said. The book doesnt refer to the fast lane as get rich quick type thing.. its avoiding wasting time on useless tasks that guarantee failure (slow lane). Traditional financial advice that involves reach the last 20% of your life with a decent nest egg but living frugally as hell until then and never enjoying your life (slow lane) .  Spending half hour to save $5 on gas by waiting in line at Costco for 20 minutes for your turn (slow lane).  Fast Lane is spending time on the 10% that makes you money. Fast lane is making a business that makes you millions over 1-20 years, etc.

I don't think your point is good as its too generals. There are business models that are much more effective than others and thus result in a faster AND more effective lane towards success.
