In Taoism the concept of respect is playing the same game, AKA someone treat you bad to be respectful to that person you treat them bad. Someone throws a hammer at you to show respect you throw a hammer at them. Treat this person with the utmost respect and start doing what they do to you back to them, this is a form of love. It will also stop you taking advice and seeking outside information.

@kag101 Yes every now and again during the existence of my day I sometimes snap into my own head and ask myself at what feels like a crucial moment. What do I want? I could be having an intense conversation with someone ahead of me, even multiple people and I'll pause and genuinely ask myself that question. If this is what you mean then yeah I exercise this sort of theory in practice.
