I think that is his core issue, but he states otherwise. Over and over again he states he just wants to chad-mode mog. Chasing girls is jester mode etc. A waste of time. He even says it is a form of cope. His favourite word.

That is not conformity, that is convenience.

You are not using your phone in bed because others are too. You are using it in bed because it is natural and convenient. You would do it even if others weren't doing it. It is natural to use your phone anywhere you go. That is the purpose of a mobile computer.

The use of it is largely a matter of conformity though, besides being convenient. If it's used in bed or in the bathroom, it's likely addiction rather than convenience. You're not using it in bed as a GPS or a flashlight, but for entertainment and socializing, most likely. Addiction and conformity can overlap.

Addiction could be regarded as the ultimate conformity - as in adapting to the form of something.
