My parents have recently started seeing and referring to me as a woman for the first time. Spending time with them without dissociating or masking is becoming a possibility. This is just the beginning; I’m not rushing the process.

It depends on your personality and how dysfunctional your parents are. If you are very masculine, introvert and impatient genetically, then a very dysfunctional family will be unbearable, no matter your consciousness. You can force yourself to not get pissed, but what is the point? What do you want to prove? It may come from a spiritual ego direction. "Oh look at me, I cannot be pissed by anyone I am so enlightened."

We know.  But what's to stop you from still disputing it.  What if you were absolutely conscious or lucid that every other being is your imagination.  Would you stop immersing yourself into the dream.

I've fucked this dream up every which way but loose..and loose too (awakening) yet im still here.  Might leave at some point. But now I'm here. Still fascinated with the intricacies of this creation.  This dream.   I can marvel in it for decades.

If they talk I will talk back but in general my mind dosent come up with things to talk to people about. Thats what I mean by ignore if you talk to me I will talk. If you dont talk to me we won't converse.

I used to get very emotionally triggered with my family. My parents died when I was very young, but I have other close family, I lived with them, then with a sister, etc. Once all emotional charge faded, all that's left is boredom. I find them utterly boring. If I have to get together with them, like on December 25th, I take some LSD before so I can stand some hours talking without getting sleep.

I don't think a lot of users here understand what is being said by Ram Dass. I think it is the sort of statement that one takes meaning from totally dependant on their current state of consciousness. As soon as their perspective is changed through elevation, the statement takes on a new meaning.

Typically, it will reveal who has experienced the Self, unity, infinity and oneness - depending on how they answer or perceive it

You wouldn't try to change your parents. The reason you get along with people when you're awakened is not because you have some otherworldly aura emanating from you that purifies people, rather, it's because your heart is open and you're able to receive everybody where they are at. 

If you're gonna get frustrated just because your parents don't share the same values as you then you have a long way to go. You're attached to them. Love is different from attachment. In Sanskrit, the words for unconditional love and conditional love are different, प्रेम (Prema) & मोह (Moha).

When I look at my parents all I feel is love. I become like them, enjoy life in the way they live it. That's what it is about. It is not about locking yourself in a state that makes you feel like a saint or a monk. I don't rationalize their behaviors, their dysfunctions. There is no such thing as dysfunctions. If you can experience that cosmic love even with those who you were once very emotionally bonded to, you know what's up.

It would be lovely if English had an equivalent for this! It would clear up a lot of confusion spiritually.

Very practically, your parents will not have grown one inch but you are this Self-Actualized Giga-Chad, and that combination is oil and water.

It is a delusion to believe that enlightenment will make you compatible with low consciousness people. This is a spiritual fantasy.

You can stomach low consciousness people for a while but it gets old quickly and it serves no useful purpose. They will try to drag you down to their level because they don't know any other way, and to you that low level should be unacceptable.

You might as well say, "Go live in prison for a week." Yeah, you will get abused. What do you expect would happen? You expect them to recoginize you as Jesus? No.

I do not think it is about being compatible.

I think it is about tolerance. You can tolerate the low consciousness people without them having a great effect on you. Recognise that they are where they are at, and just have compassion for them without being emotionally engaged in their behaviour and views/judgement.

For example - I am in a much better place than I was previously. Higher consciousness now. I can tolerate a relationship with my stepdad, who physically and mentally abused me. Previously I could not due to extreme emotional triggering. I simply see him as a child who had no one, and learned the wrong type of love. He made many, many mistakes. I forgive him. I can tolerate him in my presence. 

This does not mean I allow him to have a deep part in my life. 

It also means I do not suffer him.

It's so true.  I have tried and tried to live with a low conscious person.   It doesn't work no matter how I tired.  Now I understand the meaning of the stages.  You can walk around with a gorgeous woman but eventually the differences in the stages will reveal itself.

Sure, tolerance increases but living to tolerate someone who is fundamentally not aligned with your values is a meaningless victory and of little use to the world.

It's like asking a university professor to spend a year in 1st grade. Can he do it and tolerate it? Sure. But what does this prove and what purpose does it serve?

@Leo Gura the problem is most people are low consciousness.  So how do we find our way so isolated? Can we ever have relationships? It's very difficult.
