There is no pride in being poor

Some spiritual people pretend like it is a badge of honor. I have tried to live the modest life and focus on self development and spirituality and it is great depending on the country you live. In my country it is great because of the social system. I eat the best foods and do all the sports and activities I want. But here is the crux. You will have to deal with low quality people. The quality of your friends are considerable lower. It is true when that philosopher said hell is other people. It is really a pain in the ass to deal with low quality people which are usually people who haven’t invested in themselves. As you invest in yourself you attract your own image. It works like that. For example if a friend invites you to Italy. You want to have the money to pull that off without stress. If you can’t afford it you automatically fall out of the group. And once you are in that group people will help you to get even richer. But you first need to be able to pull that lifestyle off without being dead weight.

Have you tried different sub-cultures like volunteering, Buddhists, mindfulness, arts,.....? Poor people focused on materialism will be relatively toxic, but so will rich people vacationing in Italy.

We live in the world’s richest time in human history.
Our mindsets determine the outcome of our richness.
Abundance begins in awareness before it manifests in form.
Shift your perspective, and your world shifts with it.
The richest life begins when you master your inner economy.

so what is your goal - when you say

I second that, it's about the sub-culture you are involved with. I found so many profound people on hiking trails.

I agree. Especially after reading this quote from the book Ask and It is Given, my perspective towards being rich changed; otherwise, I was thinking that I didn't need to be rich; it would make me spiritually corrupt or smth:

Quote

You cannot get poor enough to help the impoverished people thrive. It is only in your thriving that you have anything to offer anyone. If you want to be of help to others, be as tapped in, tuned in, and turned on as you can possibly be.

Quote

Money is not the root of happiness, but it is not the root of evil either.

I agree, working to get rich you meet other motivated and ambitious people which are usually the most interesting people to hangout with. I like the self development, pickup and crypto industries for that reason.

Of course.

There's no reason to be poor. Become a massive value provider.

Wealth corrupts because it owns you.

Also, humans still have the same brains as in the paleolithic period, so most of the most pleasant things are simple things.

Yeah there is reason to be poor whatsoever, other than probably 10k of them

I have realized lately btw that absolute majority of people's ambitons could be ended if someone just gave them a million or 2 dollars. I bet most people here are like that as well, including you lol

Poverty is a state of mind which materializes and keeps you there. So you can have enough money or be rich and still be a poor man. I think we all have this mindset to some degree and there is wisdom to be gained from this paradigm just like any paradigm that one can be stuck in.  Being a fool or a poor man is actually not something bad. It is a gateway. The archetype of the fool should not be demonized as Jung or Erasmus teaches us. A praise of Folly is a genius piece of work that explains this very well.

Poverty is having to rub shoulders with one's fellow mankind. Riches is to buy a bigger wall.

Other people are the only way to wake up.

Before enlightenment poverty. After enlightenment, riches.

Seek first the kingdom and this will be given you.

Namely when you wake up, you can live the good life.

Ambition is bullshit. No one ever in history is more significantly better after achieving or aquiring just one more thing -- it is self-deception. Where will your riches go after you die? Lol

Plus, why will you work so hard in a dream?? xD

Very wrong.

Ambition is not about money.

Without my ambition Actualized.org would not exist.

Yeah, I know is not only about money. I was talking from the existential perspective. And to provide a radical oppostion to the op point of view.

Ambitious people are not necessarily more happy or fulfilled than unambitious, lazy ones. There's no right in the story. It's a question of character trait, you either have it or not, but theres also degrees of it. Self-knowledge is key.

I’d say wealthier people tend to be less toxic than a poor person. There may be extremes at both ends. All these homeless pissing on the sidewalks of Montreal causing the place to smell like shit, I’m sure are enjoying life far worse and are worse for society than the rich in that city. I wish there was a way to remove them. Obviously they aren’t going to change and they are such a burden.

Why are people poor? They didn’t invest, they aren’t educated, they didn’t think long term, etc. I mean, that’s a lower quality human generally.

Recently, I’ve grown a hatred of the homeless. Not to sound like… whatever. But, they totally ruin what would be a nice city. I don’t know the solution but there is no saving these people.

It makes sense to be rich in life. Poverty, is stupidity if you are young… decide to do whatever it takes to be rich and physically and mentally healthy at any cost.

The idea that poverty and spirituality go together is one of the biggest and saddest traps for young people.
