He's going to be 97 years old once he gets out.

Holy moly!

Finally some law and order.

If only we had that in American politics.

That's how to preserve democracy. No slaps on the wrist for coups and insurrections.

You know, our country should be absolutely embarrassed that a developing nation like Brazil was able to hold a fascist accountable, but America, which is still a developed nation and has had the longest-running democracy in the history of the world, can't hold a fascist accountable.

Brazil and Brazilians are some of my favorite people on earth. So warm and cool. The women are just gorgeous as well. I’m going back soon, time to gtfo US. Brazil showing serious integrity and accountability for this

This is exactly what should have happened to Trump after J6. The USA is so warped and brainrotted. It’s going to take a generation to cleanse out how gaslit and brainwashed half the country is. The man literally attempted a coup and his party didn’t do a thing about it… never forget that. His own vice president was exiled and stepped back from politics because of this.

This is not order, left-wing judges took advantage of a small gathering of not even a few thousand morons who pooped and peed in an institutional setting to arrest a political opponent basically for the rest of their life.

It's true that Bolsonaro is a conspiracy theorist, but it's also true that he did not participate in or acquiesce in the gathering; he should at least have received a lesser sentence.

You're mostly happy that a right-wing guy was arrested, even if it's in denial.

Brazil is less developed, isn't it obvious?

Only one of the seven judges is left-wing; the rest are center or right-wing.

You are very misinformed. The 8th of January is only one of the hundreds of proofs of the attempted coup.

We even have testimonies from the Chiefs of military forces that Bolsonaro actually asked them for a coup.

Also, his personal assistant snitched on him extensively, providing much proof os Bolsonaro's involvement.

They are so dumb that they produced an abundance of hard evidence that they planned and tried to do the coup.

But, OF COURSE, they will deny it. That's what they do: they gaslight people into denying what they actually saw, what is obvious.

They are trying to rally up enough people against their prosecution that it becomes a serious risk of chaos and violence.

Don't fall for it, keep your eyes on the ball.

No there are 5 judges and most of them are center or left-wing.

One of whom was Lula's lawyer

It was just a few thousand unarmed people who broke into and damaged public buildings, and Bolsonaro wasn't involved.

Maybe, I don't know the case and I'm not pro-Bolsonaro.

The thread suggested that it was just the event I was talking about.

If this is true then he must be condemned of course. 👍

5 judges on this case, but 11 in total, only one is left-wing (Flávio Dino), the rest is center, right-wing, or alt-right (the two that Bolsonaro chose). Most of the judiciary is composed of conservatives from the elite of the country, who are very elitist.

That has nothing to do with who put them there; Lula's lawyer is a conservative white male. The one judge who voted in favor of Bolsonaro was chose by Lula and he is also right-wing.

Also, you can be conservative and still see and condemn the corruption of Bolsonaro and Trump. There are serious conservatives.

They almost killed a few police officers and would kill anyone from the Supreme Court who would be there. Later it was found out that many of those people received military training to do what they did. They were well-funded and instigated by rich people that supported the coup. Before 8th of january, they spent 2 months camped in front of the military bases protesting in favor of a coup, many cases of terrorist acts happened in that time, and even one guy was arrested for planning to explode a truck full of explosives in a major airport.

Of course, Bolsonaro wasn't there in person; he fled the country beforehand, fearing being arrested after Lula's first day in power. He was in the shadows, planning and scheming like a bitch that he is.

Many of the people who invaded and destroyed the buildings wore Bolsonaro's shirts and were chanting for a military coup and his return to the presidency. This was all vastly documented because most of them were filming themselves during the act lol

You can ask ChatGPT for a summary of the situation. I am very well informed and i am Brazilian.

Not that all Brazilians are well-informed, after all, almost 50% of us believe in Bolsonaro's version.

The same happens if you ask a MAGA person about Trump's attempt to steal the presidency on the 6th of January; most of them will deny, and some will even approve.
