Family/Friends Reactions to Actualized?

17 posts in this topic

I’m wondering if any of you have mentioned Actualized to people you know and how that went.

I have mentioned it before and described the videos, forum, etc. but never mentioned it by name.

I mentioned it recently to someone close, thinking maybe it could help a relative. Again, not by name.

They asked me to send them a video and said try it with the relative as well.

I am worried I shared too much. They could have a number of negative reactions to the content, especially the relative.

Does this make sense? It will probably be a much tamer outcome than I am currently imagining. I am still curious on others experiences.

Tread with caution, even Leo admits his content isn't for most people. It's too advanced, too radical, and takes too much time to get into.

Also people like to discover personal development material for themselves.

I have only shared it with a relative that was open minded enough. He wasn't really into it. In this phase of my life, I would only point actualized.org out to a person who is hungry for truth and wants to do research. What Leo teaches are pure jewels and you cant give these to swine.

My parents found out about this forum as they’ve asked me and I’ve answered , otherwise I wouldn’t talk about it. Some of my family  have a negative view about it, like they have a stereotype of this isolated person disconnected from the world that hangs out on online forums, like a loser or someone who risks getting radicalized.

Some of it is close mindedness, like they have a set idea about something in society and views it negatively because of that. Also judging some aspects of spirituality as just being people’s delusions, which could be due to a lack of spiritual experiences themselves.

Also a judgment of psychedelics as just feeding into people’s delusions and viewing anything significantly mind altering as “dangerous”.

It’s like they have an idea of what’s normal and things that deviate are judged

Yeah, my entire family is like that, except for my dad. So everyone but him would sneer at these concepts. Years back, my sister wanted me to watch some Christian video and I told her I would if she watched a video on enlightenment. Showed her one of Leo’s hour-long videos and her responses to it were funny af. She did not have nice things to say about Leo.

I remember trying to engage people on these topics in my 20s and people just aren’t interested. It’s hard to find people interested in anything deep.

Its kind of the same response people get when you want to talk about death. No one ever wants too do it. They dont want to go in depth and they dont want to think about it. The only people who would like it are philosophers or small children.

Sometimes it's the journey itself that teaches/ A lot about the destination not aware of/No matter how far/

Mirror effect; why would you show Leo Gura's videos to your sister.

It's the same energy than when she wants you to see a video about christianism.

Same that’s why I changed my profile pic to a more anonymous one because if someone who knows me looks for me they can’t identify by picture

I've tried to show Leo's work to people I care about but it is all in vain. Whenever I try to talk to them about topics that involve actualized.org they double down on their backwardness and closemindedness. So therefore I made a vow to myself to never ever talk about with anybody from my community about actualized.org-esque topics. Never again. Some people don't deserve to stumble upon such a gold mine. I wonder sometimes why I wasn't as backward and rock like stupid when I encountered actialized.org given that I grew up surrounded by backwards stage blue.

Careful exposing those close to you to too much direct truth. It can destroy families.

Most won't be able to receive it anyway, unless they're very epistemically gifted or skilled they'll probably just think your a complete weirdo. I mean, it is pretty hard to get like. You could maybe give them some of Leo's older content to help them get comfortable with the directness (the older content is less abstract and a bit softer, focusing more on more basic stuff).

Because I was young and didn't understand how things worked.

You're funny with this mirror effect. I was thinking the other day I should ask you about it. Can you point me to some info about it?

Non of my family members are here in the Forum, neither my friends, even the ones who do psycadelics. This is say all about how easy is to share this content.

Even the most closed minded member here is probably more openminded than most people I know. I think one of the reasons people may get off with Leo material is because people in general love to feel rigth about their worldview, and Leo challenge their worldviews, it challenge mine at least and sometimes is hard to face that some one the most deep stuff he share are True. Who wish to willingly arrive to a point of becoming totally Alone in Existence?

Leo had also warned about "actualizing" others. It usually doesn't go well.

Even on this forum people can't see eye to eye often. 😅

Never considered sharing with my family. Not even one second. I showed some stuff to my most open minded friends at some point but it was still 1000 years too early. No one gives a shit.
