Man I am so lame, I put my real name as I have in the birth certificate as my forum name! I tought I must put my real name, but as I can see, almost no one has his real name displayed. 

One of the things I dislike this forum is that I have no Idea who I talk to, everyone has weird names and profile pictures, sometimes it feels like I am talking with automated bots. I would love if the forum made it mandatory to display a real photo of the user and his real name!

We often feel braver behind the mask of online anonymity - among other things. But it depends.

@UnbornTao I don't understand why. It gives me vibes or not genuine and fake! I have put my real name, I linked my real twitter with a photo of me as a profile picture so that people who interact with me on the forum know who I am. I don't know but the way everyone is having fake names and fake profile pictures on the forum it feels like talking to ghosts or to AI generated bots.

@Daniel Balan Sure - cowardice, in a sense, is a big factor for that. It seems to apply to social media in general.

Stalkers, safety. Anonymous people can surgically use your information against you. Some additional reasons to be semi anonymous. 

I do try to be authentic - my username is my first name (but normally it's Tash) and Tori Maru is my Japanese last name prior to it being changed during world war II. I don't hide really - my display picture is a random selfie. That is my current form.

But I don't think my name is a cool name 🙃

@Natasha Tori Maru honestly I like your surname a lot! Tori Maru is like Ricky Maru or Johnny Delgado! It has punch and power when you read it!

Regarding why people are anonymous on the forum, as I said, It feels inauthentic to speak to aliases and weird anime or graphic art photos. If people are scared of bad faith actors that could exploit what they post on the forum, the users should be more cautious with the information they share here.

I would love if the forum made mandatory that everyone display their real name and a link to their social media so each knows who they are talkting to.

@Princess Arabia is awesome how could I miss it?  You're right there are so many unique names here.  I'm also adding @relativity.

Feel good that your real name is actually cool enough  to do that.  I don't feel like my last name is lol.  But then again it's all relative and how you look at it right?  Your name sounds like it could be a well known Western enlightened master...enjoy it! 😀
