i dont run ultramarathons, or anything like that, but i go running 2-3times a week. the biggest benefit i love, besides obvious physical ones, is the meditative state i have after a run. my mind just goes blank. no thoughts, no stress, just being. i imagine that feeling be even deeper for people who run ultramarathons.

Yes I can’t imagine what ultra runners go through

Only if you make a YouTube channel where you partner with Infinite Waters and call it Infinite Sperm. And only make AI-generated content.

I was amazed to realize how non obvious good running mechanics are out of the gate. Folks out there would benefit from studying gate & the architecture of the feet, knees & hips before just going out & doing it out of pain for the sake of cardio. Running feels fantastic when the mechanics are coherent.

I Went out for a run this morning & I definitely felt better & sharper the whole day. I gain energy from short runs of 15ish minutes it’s amazing. Sneak in a few sprints here & there. Fantastic. I had a little nag in my shoulder upon waking. Gone. It’s greasing the whole system. Moving the blood & lymph. God I love running.

Hell yeah! I started moving again more seriously after a few months (years) of hiatus. Just walking a few kms to my job makes a huuge difference. Swimming in a lake made a big change too.

Do it out in the Sun and you will be revitalized!

The researchers found dementia risk decreased with higher amounts of physical activity. Dementia risks were 60% lower in participants in the 35 to 69.9 minutes of physical activity/week category; 63% lower in the 70 to 139.9 minutes/week category; and 69% lower in the 140 and over minutes/week category.

A good diet contributes, especially getting enough choline and Vitamin B12, both found in egg yolks in much larger amounts than anywhere else in the diet. Several studies have linked low choline intake to dementia also. Dr Gregers scare mongering about choline causing TMAO increase from gut bacteria and recommending a low choline diet is/was really bad advice. Adding eggs to a vegan diet makes a vegan diet totally viable, say 2-4 per day.

I just increased my eggs in the morning from 3 to 5 eggs (where the main goal was to reduce my other meals so that my last meal happens earlier, because sleep and food are antagonistic in many ways). I do actually notice a significant increase in mental clarity from it, maybe due to the choline, but maybe also due to me moving my blueberries from my evening meal to breakfast (anti-oxidants are also cognitive enhancers). Less food before bed and actually getting more calories from my breakfast could of course also be another factor.

I also started using SELTIN salt (50% NaCl, 40% KCl, 9% MgSO4, some iodine), finally dealing with one of my last nutritional holes (if you can call it that): potassium. It seems to have a serotonergic effect on me, and my muscles feel smoother (I was also probably overdosing on sodium up until now, making me more adrenergic). I also seem to be holding less water weight, and my waist has shrunk, maybe also due to my stomach shrinking a bit after reducing my biggest meals by 25%.

@Carl-Richard

Could be unique to me but I was eating 3/4 eggs a day until 2 months ago

I ended up with a very strange skin rash with cracking. I removed the egg yolks and just have one, the rest whites now.

The rashes/dryness has since gone. It was localised to my achillies area

Weird.

Deal with the issue now, on your terms, in your control. Or the issue will deal with you, in ways you won't appreciate, and cannot control.

I had a rash in my achillies a few days ago but I think it was due to me biking too hard on the spinning bike and not being used to it :) I will keep an eye out 🫡

Don't worry. Another mod once (allegedly) predicted that I would have a precognitive dream, which happened (they told me after the fact). One does not beat psych-ception, 👻^2

@Natasha Tori Maru Yes, I feel better on less eggs as well, unfortunately.

Even though I still believe that eggs are one of the (if not THE) most nutritious foods ever

I was doing 4 eggs a day, then down to 3, and now down to 2 lol.

2 seems to be my happy equilibrium (yes, with yolk. I can't forego the micronutrients lol).

But for most people I would say attempt 4-6/day and then dial back if it's not working. It's really just that nutritious.

I eat em for the yolks also.

Recalling the weird rash - I developed it AFTER I lost my free supply of backyard chicken eggs...

Transitioned to store bought fReE rAnGe/blahblah (it's all lies) around the time the rash begun.

Very well could be the difference in the egg source - my mums chickens were looked after like pets and tasted/texture was obscenely different to the store variety.

There are really too many variables to think the weird skin shit is attributed to bad store eggs, but it makes me wonder.

Not true lol, I have never entered a gym in my life except for one day, and I am skinny af and I eat anything and everything. I put like 5 sugar spoons in one cup of tea, min 3 cups a day. I never had diabetes, and I eat junk food and cola; I never got fat or got diabetes. I am not even like a normal person. I am skinny af.

A lot of people like this (me included) think we are eating a lot of calories but our diets are extremely inconsistent, we tend to have low appetite and fill that appetite with something like one or two easy high calorie meals and some snacks every day, which is not enough to be in caloric surplus even though the food is unhealthy and calorie dense. You may also eat 4000 calories one day and 700 on other days, which balances out to caloric deficit.

If you start counting calories you'll be surprised just how little you actually eat.

And to be clear this is not healthy for you either. You're destroying the inside of your body even if you don't look unhealthy on the outside.

As we all know, the pinnacle examples of health are methheads, competition-ready steroid-abusing bodybuilders and anorexics who routinely die in their mid-40s.
