You shouldn’t really feel a difference from eating a little junk…

If you are healthy. If you are in the prime years of your health. If you have strong healthy digestive system. If you’re not sensitive, then you shouldn’t really feel a difference when you eat a little junk sometimes.

If you do, if you feel it makes you slower, sluggish, affects your ability to think, bloated etc, it probably means you are sensitive, don’t have the best digestion, maybe have some chronic illness, aren’t in the prime years of your health etc. 
 

So don’t blame the food…. It’s your body that isn’t in the best shape: 
 

Because a healthy strong body should be able to handle some crap. 
 

I notice this in myself. I can eat a little crap sometimes and I feel no difference in my state. Because I’m top healthy so my body can handle it.

Dont come on here thinking you got some exceptional interoceptive awareness making you notice the most subtle changes. Maybe it’s possible, but most people don’t have that so…

Hahah that’s why I wrote “a little junk”. I haven’t eaten an entire tub in one sitting so I wouldn’t know how I’d feel

I have eaten a lot of food and dessert in one sitting though for example I was at a family gathering recently that had a buffet. What happens is that I feel full and bloated but that’s because the stomach stretches and is full of food so it’s fine

I limit dessert to the weekends, but sometimes I wanna reduce it even more. As I said I don’t feel any negative effect from it, but id still like to optimize my diet even more

I eat junk on weekends. I’ve been lowkey wanting to minimize it even more to optimize my diet more. I eat healthy during the weekdays though . I feel healthy regardless.

What do you call Junk ?

There isn't a single day that goes by where I don't eat a good amount of refined starch/sugar or oil in various forms lol (white pastas/rice, oils/butter, chips, fries, cakes, bread, pizza, sandwiches, candy, soda...); I just recently replaced the coke with sparkling water.

Best approach to diet is weekly view or better monthly view. This allows for lots of leeway in good ways and bad ways. I am today reviewing every item I ate and drunk during April to see if any tweaks need implementing this month.

I've got no issues with people who choose to (or not to) eat junk food for xyz reasons, as long as they don't shame others for choosing otherwise. You could make cases for both sides:

People can indulge out of convenience, habit, peer-pressure (especially young), some form of addiction and more psychological reasons. It doesn't make them bad at all, although anyone reducing it is good in my book. I agree though that occasional junk food is not life-threatening, especially if you have other things offsetting the potential damage. Although some people can not even eat them due to various auto-immune, metabolic or genetic disorders.

Is it needed? No. Is it okay from time to time? Yeah depending on your goals. I feel weird for an hour or two after a meal of McDonalds, and therefore choose not to eat it.

The relationship between the gut and the brain is pretty established by this point. Depression, mood disorders and many other things related to mental well-being can be positively influenced by dietary changes (and/or supplements).

I notice the effect sometimes even before I finish, so maybe I am more sensitive than usual. It just makes me feel groggy, like what I put into my body is especially trash. Some awareness can help others notice it too.

Like you I also eat very healthy. The few times I eat a chocolate bar or get a milkshake from Mcd's I dont feel anything. However when I bring awareness post eating said Junk food item I do notice slight distortion from my normal state. Usually I feel more hyperactive, adhd like symptoms that persist for 6 hours post junk food item. You could say my energy feels more volatile, less calm.

It also makes me more horny, less connected to others or my environment it puts me more into a survival consciousness state I guess.

I do not eat any form of junk.

The cleaner I become, the more I am able to feel the effects of trash in my system.

As you age, also, you will find your body is no longer able to tolerate what it used to.

this is well said. eating clean really makes a difference - you can literally feel it in your body and mind. that clear, energized feeling after a good, nutritious meal just doesnt compare to how you feel after junk food. these days, whenever i have junk, my body is way more sensitive to it. its almost like, “nope get this shit outta here“ like it knows better now.
