Lots of repeated harassment / humiliation attempts that aren't simply pranks; shit like sending apprentices off to find 'left handed hammers', 'sky hooks' or asking them to request non-existent tools from other site crews / trades. The most insidious part about this is that it makes the hazee feel like this is all part of it. That it is acceptable to do this to the next lot of new crew. So the behaviour perpetuates as a form of hierarchy. Many of these guys do not know how to assert boundaries or stand up for themselves. 

I think this breeds a lot of that 'cup of cement' ' harden the fuck up' culture on construction sites that leads to really caustic and abrasive conduct. Moralizing toughness - but it is a destabilizing pressure. Not pressure that sharpens someone.

I do not work as OH&S but I engage in in-depth social dynamics (I am logistics and coordination primarily) so I work to dissolve a lot of this stuff without having to call in force. Sometimes it is a simple matter of gently, but repeatedly and incessantly, calling out these tactics. Essentially, I nag these guys into submission. But this only works in my case because I pay their bills directly, so there is the potential for force to be used if they do not comply.

I am comfortable calling people out without asserting my own power over them. I give them honest and candid feedback. I never explain myself. And I always focus on behavioural feedback and never character feedback. Emotionless delivery.

It's a good way to test if someone is easy to work with depending on how they take it. Maybe they'll fashion an actual left handed hammer if they can't find one. As long as it doesn't go further than harmless and funny.

Here in Bahia Brasil I am observing a very interesting fenomena. Was woman here that opened my eyes to it. Foreing girls from Germany,France, and other countries coming for sexual turism. Not the same way men do when they travel to Thailand etc.. this woman dont need to pay, they come and make themselfs available to locals. One can feel the vibe. They have little time to act, so they very fast find what they want and go for it. This idea that man only is the ones searching for sex is a myth. When a woman want, she will iniciate and make easy to sex happen. They pick what attract them. As Orion Taraban said in one video "woman want many qualities in a man, but they want it in man they are already atracted.

Something about the blog post on sex irked me, and I think I understand why.

Funny enogth, the German girl who was in this sort of behavior hooked up with a Black friend that is owner of a pizzaria here, hehe. So he really had a lot of sauce.
