It is not. It gives a rare and quality explanation (for a Hollywood blockbuster movies) glimpse how we as civilization were created

Prometheus wasn't sinister enough. It was sterile.

Digger.
This movie and subject matter was supposed to be boring. cause we've heard it a thousand times.
but Tom Cruise is just a fucking good actor
and the way the story was told...
it just strings you along,

a classic... no...
a great piece of storytelling.. yes.

Hope is finally streaming.

It's a bit slow and uneven, but still enjoyable nonetheless.

While it has its moments, I personally prefer the director's other film, The Wailing.

Even so, I'd watch a sequel.

@RisingLane Nice to see your contributions again. The whaling is an incredible film. Didn't know it was the same director. I enjoyed Hope.

New trailer just dropped. Looks nothing like the original Narnia movies.  Reeks of dissapointment, open to being pleasently suprised though once it hits theaters.

Just saw the new documentary about Elizabeth Holmes. Craziest doc ive ever seen, the entire theatre was also in shock.

This is a must see for anyone interested in the story of theranos and to also understand masters of deception

@Phil King I saw it last night. I recommend not waiting and seeing it in theatres! The audience felt like part of it.

I am confused about the whole thing to be honest. I felt a lot of compassion for her by the end I wasn’t expecting. And, the way men seem to manipulate her idk. It is strange. I think she has autism.

Yes that was the crazy part, but Is there any part of u that thinks she is actually crazy manipulative and using the men in her life as a sort of shield to pass the blame on so she can get off as a victim of circumstance? And yeah she is definitely a strange individual whos mind works in weird ways as shown by the "whos on first" scene. Really weird situation that i dont know what to make of

@Phil King Maaaaaybe. I think people will come to different conclusions.

Its crazy her dad worked for Enron!

I think she knows she lied, and is holding on for survival. I also think she is clearly  neurodivergent and doesn’t understand social dynamics well.

The plot makes so sense. It's like a bunch of random monsters hatching for no reason out of nowhere and fucking up Alien lore.

That's fair, I don't know much about the Alien Lore. What I like is how it portrayed a plausible version of reality where one of our techbros starts to seek out the secret to immortality through far fetched tales of an alien civilization. How they show the archeologists that were nerds excited to connect the dots and find the drawings that prove the existence of the engineers was cool. Then when they actually meet the engineer who immediately gets offended at being interrogated by humans and tries to kill them all while resuming our extinction was pretty funny. I wished they made Weyland's daughter survive, that would be a cool character to bring back.

It also comes at the angle of the creation of humanity through another angle. The black goo genesis idea is very interesting and is like a 4th path to think about part from the religious creation story, atheistic big bang and the actualized.org nondual the mind thinks itself universally from scratch. Now we have this non-communicative advanced species that clones itself on a new world and then assesses if the emerging civilization is worthy or not. It's actually pretty close to the Abrahamic religion judgement after death angle.

I haven't watched Alien Covenant yet but I saw the trailer where David drops the goo on them to wreck them and then perfect the Xenomorph I thought was a pretty cool plot. I wish they would make another prequel with a full movie from the pov of the Engineer's civilization and how their politics, engineering, culture and dating worked that would be interesting.
