If you don't possess highly sought-after skills, don't even think about coming to Europe.

The only scenario in which this makes sense is if you are a highly skilled expert in a field with significant demand in Europe, such as technology. In such a case, you could earn a good income, and if you come from a poor country, you might be able to return after a while and live very comfortably for the remainder of your life.

Europe, especially Scandinavia, is a very hostile place for foreigners. This is not like early America, where immigrants could just show up with nothing and work their way to the top. There is barely any opportunity even for our own people.

You would also just hate Europe.

The weather is shitty, people are unfriendly, there is no sense of community, you won't get pussy as a foreigner... -- unless you appreciate European culture such as architecture, art, literature, food, theater, etc., there is literally nothing to do here.

I don't know much about Malta.

I'd imagine it would be more hospitable towards foreigners and generally more enjoyable (good weather, lots of international tourism, etc.).

You will still need to bring serious skills to the table to make it there; low-hanging fruit would include skills related to the financial sector (good grasp of economics, people skills, being fluent in lots of languages, etc.).

This could actually work out in your favor, if you are fluent in English and say Hindi and have the necessary soft and hard skills, you could pursue a career in banking and position yourself to consult with wealthy Indian clients. It’s a big „if,“ though.

Also, the EU won’t just allow any punk to come and live here.

If you're not an EU citizen, you need to have already landed a good job here or have a significant net worth to even be allowed in.

It's subjective. there can be no best country, and it depends on one's individual needs and circumstances.

Scandinavian countries are wealthy but very nanny state oriented. They also are overly accommodating to migrants and are very cold, especially in winter. Excess snow can be a turn-off for people.

This is moot. Each EU country has some leeway in choosing its immigration rules, even though there are the single market and Schengen in place. Many migrants are low-skilled and are permitted to be there on that basis. They can be citizens after a given time in working there.

this is odd advice. this depends strongly on which part of Europe one is referring to.

Ah I recognized you speak about Germany.

In Germany you can do a lot. Working for example.

People are directly expressing their feelings. It can sometimes be seen as unfriendly but it's just authenticity and direct talking. We don't like artificial and manipulative behavior. If you suck we will let you know that you suck. If you are good, you will get compliments.

On bigger companies in office jobs however it's less direct and more inauthentic and manipulative.

The biggest problem with Europe is exactly what makes it special to tourists, it’s very fragmented and split by its languages and cultures, if Europe was to operate as a single country with different states like the US it would be much more prosperous.

It’s a very fast and cold life here. Although any country can be fun, you just gotta find yourself some rockstar friends, even North Korea can feel welcoming if you do this.

Many European countries are as prosperous as the USA. Moreover, why should cultures that have existed for centuries be all unified? The same then should apply to Asia or Africa. The USA was founded as one country and even then there always have been cultural differences between the states, leading to Civil War in one case.

Lived in Denmark for 4 years. The racism others have mentioned is real. Most of them don't like anyone who's not Danish. Btw same goes for Norway however norway is somewhat better.

Most of these happiness indices list the Scandinavian countries at the top. Granted, they are often made in good faith. But happiness is very relative.

Whilst Denmark, Sweden and Norway are very wealthy and they take care of their citizens well, I don't think I'd be happy there. They're very nanny-state-ish. They pamper their citizens too much. And whilst governments are there to protect the people, they should be able to live their own lives properly. they also are quite homogenous and don't like integration that much. Or really don't pay credence to integration in some instances. This is why they have issues with immigrant rapes and stuff - they are often very PC and woke and won't do what it takes to make immigrants integrate. They don't realise there is a balance to be struck and migrants and states must work together to find that balance.

Moreover, they are cold and winter in these places is harsh.

If accounting for European countries, I'd prefer to live in the UK, Netherlands or Germany. Neither are as wealthy in terms of median incomes as Scandinavia, but they are less nanny-state-ish, and also have a healthier balance of integration. They also have more career and life opportunities, and overall are more varied places.

All their wealth and energy are allocated toward abstract values such as education, equity, and liberty, yet there is a complete absence of any higher vision or purpose for these means. There is nothing inspiring happening there at all; no semblance of any cultural or artistic vision or statement.

The best thing they could come up with was IKEA. Think about that.

To be fair, this is true for the entire liberal West.

When the most inspiring world leaders are an Argentine Anarcho-Capitalist and a Saudi Prince building a utopian Mega-City in the middle of the desert, you know we're in deep trouble.
