How can self enquiry be done without thinking

What exactly is self enquiry?? Isn't it about asking who am I and at last realizing that I am pure empty awareness..

@Alex bliss the realization that you are pure awareness will not be a thought or a concept.

it will be known.

like taste of something you eat is known.

so yes, you start by asking the question

and in the end see that you were never the one asking the question, but

only mis-identified as the one who was asking the question

Yup!

My first awakening was during a video when the guru was doing self-inquiry with a man. Leading him step by step through her own process and she got to the mind blowing part... and wow.

....There was no-mind here... just gone.

When it came back, it was like-"whhaaaatttttt just happened"...lololol.

I've linked it for ppl before, several times actually, it never has had the same effect for them and the sound quality isn't good on it either, but I'll look for it on youtube. I don't have it saved.

Yep

Rumi: just be quite. Don't say anything

That's all. If the voice in the head is muted. There you are!

No, you keep your human-ness.

Perhaps you generally won't have fear, but yes, you can still have it.

You can have any feeling, thought or emotion as you did prior to Self-realization.

You just know its something that comes and goes, so can not be your true nature, awareness.

Rupert Spira explains it really well and directly (for a change)

so the reason Ramana taught self inquiry was because people weren’t ready/ benefitting from his silent teachings and transmissions and wanted something to practice.

he didn’t mean it as a way just to repeat who am I for an hour in your head, but to ask the question and see what answer you get that isn’t based in thoughts.

Ruperts Version is to ask “Am I Aware?” And then see what happens, you can do this throughout the day, and as you notice pure awareness coming forward more and more, you’ll be amazed at what begins to happen.

one thing, don’t demonise thoughts, thoughts will always be created, instead accept and investigate them.

where do thoughts come from?

Are thoughts interconnected?

Is there really a mind where thoughts come and go from and live?

Have fun!.....
