Have you tried any supplements? I guess you’re having trouble. Mind racing? Whats up?

@phllip103

1) Take 2 - 3 mg of melatonin 45 minutes before sleep

2) Lay down in my bed

3) Close my eyes

4) Become more and more drowsy until I fall asleep into blissful no-experience

When I struggle to sleep I imagine a story happening. Like a visual story of a horse that escapes his field and runs and runs and bumps into things like lakes and other animals and maybe he falls and hurts his leg, then a kind farmer finds him and treats his wounds. Visualization really helps. That's where the stereotype of watching sheep jump over a fence to help to sleep, comes from.

@phllip103

Three full burgers at midnight, and I'm done.

I don't know how many you'll need.

@phllip103 I make sure to expose my retina to as much blue light as possible. I make my sleeping pattern as erratic as possible to make mess with my hormonal balance.

Hark ye yet again — the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event — in the living act, the undoubted deed — there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough.

@phllip103 Maybe you need something completely different than I needed but I'm still gonna share:
At the beginning of this year I had a terrible phase of insomnia, which was later joined by a fever. Not the sweetes combination. I couldn't sleep at all for 5 days or so, I felt close to going mad.

I figured I didn't supplement Vitamin D & A for a year or so. Both of them are super important for regulating your hormones. So I introduced them again and since then my sleep is better than ever before. Could be a coincidence though, just saying.

(If you're a meat eater, you might have no need for Vitamin A supplement. Just eat some liver. I'm a vegan so I need Vitamin A in the form of retinol, ß-Carotine won't cut it.)

Also, you might look into Ashwaghanda. I'm not a fan of taking something which may become hard to get off of later.

@phllip103 Let go of the mind's struggle to stay active in thought streams.

Technology at night has blue light which negatively affects sleep.

If you can't fall asleep consider environmental factors e.g. is your room too hot, do you use your room for study and work, Is your bed position comfotable.

Also consider sleeping aids, magnesium has been know to help.

You may have tight muscles which you would need to stretch and relax before bed, and the pillow may not be the right height to support your neck without discomfort.

In summary sleep is a sacred ritual which should be treated as such.

Hope this helps.
