@Star Net I also recommend the book Vegan for Life as it is backed up by scientific studies though I do not know how hard it is to get it where you live.

Here's a few reasons in my opinion:

  • False beliefs and lack of knowledge - About the industries, food, health, environment.
  • Superiority complex. Look up speciesism. Like racism but to animals.
  • Not thinking for yourself - Being brainwashed.
  • Ignorance - Of what goes on behind the scenes. And not putting yourself in the animals place.
  • Food addiction.
  • Lazyness.
  • Entitlement.

I am just opening a discussion here and raising questions about this topic, thinking about eating meat and consuming animal products is new to Me,

thats why I am collecting informations, and I am going to consult a doctor about it, I think I am going to read books about it from now on,

according to My poor knowledge about this topic right now I can not create a strong stable idea about this Topic.

Hi @RawJudah   @Dragallur  @sgn

I think these issues are one of the challenges for Us as humans that We have to overcome, to be more self actualized, not just about the food that We eat, but about everything that We are going through Our lives.

@Star Net yes but, diet is everything.

it always makes me laugh how far people go to protect their animal eating foods, and to think this is absolutely normal and a great thing to do. It just goes to show how powerful food can be.

Animal protein causes so many health problems for humans, it’s like it’s the new smoking, people think it’s great but it’s secretly slowly killing them.

Read the pleasure trap and then come back to me ;)

I’ve heard people say the same about veganism. What’s actually the truth? I think that’s something each of us has to experiment with and find out for ourself.

What about carnivore animals? Specifically carnivore pets? Just a thought/question.

I agree that fast food and grains damage our bodies, and I loved Leo's video about how to shop for food. I will never look at food the same way again! But I think meat is needed sometimes. Although I'm also very new to this. However, I have read pro-meat articles about vegetarian studies, and all of them seem to be conducted by animal rights promoters or something (thus might be biased), I can't remember the exact informations written there, read it long time ago. I think the site was called "Let them eat meat" or "My plate". Look up these terms if you want, and I do admit I have to do my research.

Also, I'm not attacking anyone with my initial question, as I myself am also considering to try out the vegan diet for at least a month - after reading up on it ofc. If anyone could recommend a list of books to me, that would be great. :)

Your opinions - Pros and Cons about being vegan or not being vegan - Your experiences - Your opinions from the morality perspective -

are You a vegan now or not? and why ?

-We do not have to kill, torture or hurt the animals so that We can eat or dress well

The most convincing argument I respect in advocacy of being vegan is the inefficency that eating animals has for feeding a population of 7+ billion

I am not a vegan because I have more pressing priorities that hold me back, and being a vegan requires care as you learn it for if you fuck up your nutrition that got tragic results. gotta be care of the risk, with vegan - best advice, don't jump straight into it. Eat between 1 vegan meal a week and 1 vegan meal a day. maybe make a vegan dish but eat it with meat on the side - to practice preparation of vegan dishes. uh - whatever way you do it, identify something about being vegan and practice that first, and while you do learn about the nutrition. over the course of 3-15 months, slowly wean yourself onto the vegan diet, as you come also to learn about the essentials of nutrition - and don't forget to use the experiences your body gives you to confirm what you hear - don't trust the confusing messages that are the field of nutrition if your body rebels against it. trust what your body loves.

beware: rant ahead ;)

regarding morality - I laugh. people obsess over protecting animals but don't even realize half the damage they do to animals- and certainly don't value the damage the do to themselves, plants, or what they dismiss as consiousless inaminate objects. You say the rock ain't aware and I ask what is sitting still on a ground? what is suppressing that ground? what is sound when the rock falls - and the impact it has? what is erotion? what is the plants and fungus that grow upon the rock and in its cracks? why is one rock this way and the other that way? I forget who said it that I heard - but all things have personality. personality meaning, how it exists. This is consiousness too. change is consiousness. we are not the limit to consiousness - and moralizing over preserving the life of animals completely misses the reality that all of existence is precious. In order to create we must destroy. This is the necessary nature of diversity. we must survive by eating - we must grow by destroying. there is no creation without destruction.

I would never be a vegan for fear of killing a precious animal. I would be a vegan for the reality of realizing the waste of resources that is raising an animal just to consume it for our energy and products and game. but then, if that were a moral issue, we should just end our own life, as the most costly consumer of all - and we do not do that for a reason. So the morality is just a red herring by my books.

sorry for the rant.
