My question is this:

When your ego is "dead" why will continue  giving food to the body?

This question presumes that you (ego), are bothering to give food to the body right now. You are not doing that, and you will never do that, with or without ego.

If you don't eat you'll appear to leave sooner (ie die). You're body will do what it does, just like the heart beating it will grab an apple.

You're ego dosen't die, it's just seen through.

It's okay to be curious but it's not the best of questions, find out for yourself and these questions will become as silly as some of the other ones asked on here.

Most of my internal replies for those are: "who cares, get to work and find out for yourself. Stop being lazy by getting other people to do the work for you - and most of the time they have no idea either".

The ego is the body's survival mechanism to watch out for physical safety and food. When you lose it survival is not your man worry, everything is ok.

Most people take better care of themselves after enlightenment. That's paradoxical, but think about it. When it is obvious that there are a biological system, a body-mind that you are not, but that have desires, hopes nevertheless. Would you like to starve that body? 

It's one thing to handle your own suffering(starving for example), but it harder to see "others" suffer, specially if you don't have an ego. 

If anything, "you" will take better care of "your" body and treat it with respect and dignity and feed it with nutritious food and water.

The ego is an illusion and doesn't really exist now...so why eat now? 

Hungry/not hungry...that is the body...and then in thought there is identification with it - "I am hungry".  No ego needed to eat when hungry.

For an ego to be "dead", it has to exist now as some entity...but it doesn't exist as an entity.  It is all just thought.

Read 'dead' as illusory. The sense of self is just a thought that arises and disappears. So there is really no entity he/she thinks that they are. The mechanisms are still at work, however. They're just happening and no one is doing it.
