Yeah, I was sad to hear of his passing today and how he must've suffered badly from Alzheimer's disease and Lewy Body dementia.

My grandmother is in the early stages of Alzheimer's. It erodes the personality. She doesn't know who myself or my mother are anymore. When we try to care for her, she often becomes adversarial. It is a very sad end. All reason dissolves. A child remains in an adult body with much less emotional regulation than normal.

Gonna binge Star Trek + X-men tonight in this gentleman's honour!

He gave us the infinity facepalm meme.

He gave us joy.

I love his silky rich voice. Like cherries and creme brule!

He is now one with God

“Our most valuable resource is not time, but rather it is consciousness itself. Consciousness is the basis for everything, and without it, there could be no time and no resource possible. It is only through consciousness and its cultivation that one’s passions, one’s focus, one’s curiosity, one’s time, and one’s capacity to love can be actualized and lived to the fullest.” - r0ckyreed

True ego-death.

Yes - I've been with a human when they pass. It is like watching a no-self awakening in front of you. Real time. All the wonder and awe. All distinction falls away. Only raw sensation remains. Powerful experience. I recommend witnessing for everyone - as macabre as that sounds.

RIP. :( I heard about this earlier today -- I wasn't aware of his medical state before passing.

When I think of him, I'll always think of TNG and how it was a constant, comforting fixture in my house growing up.  And also that he was a Shakespearean/ classical actor first before he was on TV and film, like many highly skilled actors from the UK. He had a certain kind of gravitas, especially in speech with how measured and intentional his words are. I very much got the sense that he knew how to use his voice and his body to such full extent, and he emanated a certain type of calm, but also warm and powerful presence.

Here he is when he was much younger in an adaptation of I, Claudius by Robert Graves (1976)

Avengers: Doomsday was his last film.
