Right? Like this is a nothing nobody thread and we lose Emerald?

i  for won't go further or I'll get banned.  But..someone has some explaining to do.  Fire me for being sexist.  Hah.

I think its deeply connected to our identity/ ego and our place in the world/ justifiction for our role in society.

@Emerald You can’t expect people to agree on gender, men and women stuff. Just look at society… you kinda have to make your own understanding. Sharing it then requires realizing how splintered it all is.

Even if those who respond don’t agree… you add a lot of value to the mix with your perspectives.

People not agreeing is natural I think. Though people exist like that out there who share your views and I hope you can find them and enjoy resonating with them.

Is it? Or is it just that we are animals.  I mean at the end of the day you can really work at getting to the bottom of who you are.  But the truth is your identity ties back to every day you were on this earth and every single stimuli you took in. All the experiences and all your memories. And your culture.  All of this creates an unbreakable identity.  But it's no excuse to view woman as an object.  But if you want to know the truth, that's what they did back then.   She was a piece of meat. It is still in our blood.

You need a backbone and an open mind to talk here in depth. People won’t agree with you much of the time.

This is a painful subject for people there are so many intertwined emotions, beliefs, survival biases, cultural stories, movements, scientific studies of varying qualities. This is for men and women. This is such a confusing space to talk in, we all fall short.

We live in a really diverse age No matter who you are, a man, woman, gay straight, different skin tone, nationality, political lean, etc you will find resistance, people who disagree with you, name call you, judge you, say you are wrong, lie, get emotional, act immature, not meet your needs or desires, etc…

Thats life right now for everyone. We gotta have tough skin out here, and also self compassion, inner kindness, inner sovereignty.

There are people who you can resonate with, just gotta find them.

But, then again not in everything. You are alone in your own sense making. This will always be true.

The world isn’t going to agree with all your pet theories and beliefs.

Tough.

You're evolved to survive average.

The fact that this goes over your head is part of the problem. You fundamentally don't understand nature and survival. you treat it like it's just a matter of perspective.

I don't think you understand what I am saying, based off this response. You are responding to some other meaning taken from what I said. You don't understand what I know or think, because you didn't really ask or probe.

The rhetoric you employ belies some charge - I am sorry if I offended you.

I wanted to say that the hunter gatherer stereotypical roles play a large part in informing other roles that came on top of that, grounded them in a sense which is why they are important to the ego and which is why the conversation is so charged.

I dont know where you are coming from with people viewing women as an object back then.

Their entitlement annoys me. They expect the whole world to be as they wish it to be. It could end up very badly, they had luck.

You could say this equally for men and women.

Quote

Almost as lame as traveling alone as an attractive woman to a third world country in the middle of nowhere and become amazed that you put yourself in danger.

This line of reasoning has some oddities. Where is the danger typically originating from? Can we address this source? Is that too difficult? Instead, the default is to place restrictions on women. Should we investigate violence and sexism in men, and attempt to assist there? Or is that considered a foregone conclusion? Lots of questions that remain open and often overlooked.

The assumption under this is that we simply accept men's behaviour. Or violence. We don't try to change this. We try to change women instead. Deep rooted structural issues...

It's pretty easy to see. Women were just there for a guy to get his dick in.  They knew it..we knew it.  Brothels were next door.  It was a different life.  Women mostly had to whore for a living or just be some dude's bitch. It wasnt like today. And im talking 200 years ago.

@Inliytened1 Hey, can you tone down your rhetoric? I really don’t appreciate your use of words. I think we should respect that women are here too discussing this stuff. And, I frankly don’t even think what your saying is entirely true.

There is sex work, etc and example of this… but that’s not all of human society and I just think this can be explored in a way that isn’t so graphic. I caught myself earlier doing that.

On competence:

A woman can be feminine and be competent. The most feminine woman I ever dated was a nurse, whose job obviously required lots of competence. She also had domestic skills, like cooking. And when I'm dating, I do look for basic life competence.

A woman who cannot tie her own shoes is not going to be a good mother. She needs to be relatively stable, dependable, etc.

If her life is a complete mess, she might be feminine, but it's still a red flag.

@Emerald is right about this part.

Yeah sorry. But..that's how I feel it was back then.  Women did not have a lot of rights as you know.

@aurum Personally, I look for competence in my partner. Competence though is a human trait and not entirely feminine or masculine. You can be a competent father or mother.

I want a strong intelligent women, who is feminine in intimacy… and, all the more nuance stuff….

Mothering is competence, duh. Things are relative. Women see mothering the same way men see action and hunting.

There was a viral social media poll & thought experiment running through a few social media platforms recently - a vast number of women independently responded that their immediate reaction to being the last woman alive would be profound fear and self-preservation, with top responses involving escaping or ending their lives before being subjected to forced capture or violence by men.

With answers like that, it is hard to argue that the sexes are equal. Huge domain/category error. It also points to women being aware of the differences, despite the idealistic notion "we can do what they can". The reliance each sex has on each other is hidden in the atomised society we live in today.

@Inliytened1 Yes, but there was still daughters, mothers, families, communities. There was still trust, respect, and love back then even though there was darkness.

Even if women played a different social role, it was not entirely always in every case they were mistreated and spat on.

Stepping outside social norms is one thing. But, we should be nuanced here.

We can explore this without becoming vulgar like we are discussing this with just the buddies.

Men still loved their wives, their sisters, their mothers, their daughters, and their communities.

This should not be overlooked…

@aurum Honestly the women I work with who are mothers do not accept bullshit and are straight up. I find them to have higher competence than non-mothers.
