Men: How do you feel & react when you see women cry?

Women are more emotional from a decision-making standpoint.

Can you explain this a bit more?

Expand on how one makes decisions without emotion/feeling being a component?

Highly situational but usually Im moved to ask the obvious question (are you okay?) and let body language, tone, vibe and the response to figure out the next move.

Men are just as if not more emotional making decisions, just different emotions, mens are more fear and insecurity, women's more love and expression.

Men view the fear decision making as being responsible, because they don't know how to identify their emotions, like at all, like how most no one listed their emotions in this thread. Every rational decision has emotion behind it, fear.

This is closer to my understanding as well.

Just one example are rates of violent crime perpetrated by men. That is a huge amount of emotion/feeling based decision making.

I just don't buy that women are more emotional/feeling and make more decisions from this space.

How can you make a decision without values, which are based on feelings/emotions? Reasoning does not determine what is worth pursuing. Values, goals and preferences supply that direction (but reason/emotion are not mutually exclusive).

Expression is something different from influence.

@Natasha Tori Maru I think woman are more in tune with their emotions as men mainly supress them and then they might come out in rage or anger or frustration. It is more like it is build up, like build up emotions because from a young age we are told to not be a bitch, so we just keep it in, where as woman are more in tune due to talking about their emotions and how they feel much more and everything is more emotional. But of course then that makes guys use those emotions in their work or life and start wars due to supressed emotion or get into fights etc.

What emotions / feelings come up for you? Sympathy, heartbreak, disgust, sadness, pity etc

So you feel compelled to action?

If its a girl i'm seeing, then I get super horny. I wanna fuck the shit out of her to make her happy again.

Might be genetics, because my grandparents were always fighting, but they have like 10 kids.

I think women make decisions based on how they feel (good vs. bad), while men make decisions based on cold reality (right vs. wrong).

How women feel is a broad concept that includes their current mood, and relationship with others who might be affected by the decision, and how they feel about the decision itself.

Of course, none of that negates rationality or high level thinking. But when push comes to shove, it outweighs them by a landslide. It becomes the deciding factor, as opposed to men who can ignore their feelings and act based on what they think is right regardless of the consequences.

That's my current understanding, anyways. And I'm open for corrections.

I don't know.

I don't understand. Right vs wrong is usually a value based judgement. Values have an affective dimension. How can you decide what is right and wrong without values, preferences, goals - all of which do not arise from logic alone?

I see a difference between using logic to evaluate a judgement and having a basis for what matters in the first place.

@Natasha Tori Maru

Sure, ultimately everything is one, and there's no difference between anything. But in practice, it's a bit more nuanced.

Values are set in stone. They don't change based on how you feel. In fact, they anchor your decisions and provide a stable self that has clear preferences and goals which are not immediate, but way into the future, which requires cold logical thinking and consistency despite emotional changes in order to reach.

So while values do have an affective dimension as a starting point, that dimension is locked deep in the past and is not questioned or allowed to be questioned or changed. It's the basis of masculine identity.

And since men are living between values that they decided in the past which project goals as futuristic potential, that makes men lose touch with the present moment, or at least push it down their list of priorities. Men have to devalue how they feel in order to be effective and achieve their goals.

I don't know.

@Jirh Values can provide stability, but they aren't set in stone.

You can reassess them as one gains experience and new information.

Logic can assist in pursuing goals consistently, but it cannot determine what is worth pursuing in the first place.

My point is that decisions are value-based, and values involve feelings and emotions.

I feel like you might be conflating logic with emotional suppression - unless I am wrong in understanding.

I'm being deadass. Fucking her grounds her by reminding her that all of it doesn't matter, and its a game. We can still discuss and resolve the situation, but sex is the reminder:

"Listen *thrust* I see where you're coming from *thrust*, but we have to also consider their side *nutting noises*"

Yes. I only said "set in stone" to imply that it's difficult to change them, because they're part of one's core identity. They're not absolutely set in stone, but they're stable enough to stay the same for years, unlike emotions, which can change very quickly, and even swing back and forth multiple times in a short period of time.

And I'm not disagreeing with that.

What I'm saying is that the emotional component of values is locked in the past, and not felt in the present moment. It's more like a monument, or an anchor for emotions. Once it's settled, it doesn't easily move or change.

Actually, you do have a point.

I think women are more generally integrated than men in this context, as they can understand logic but act based on how they feel.

Emotional suppression is a lot easier than actually integrating emotions, so it makes sense that most men suppress their emotions.

The opposite applies to most women, who suppress logic in favour of emotions.

I think it's difficult and rare for a someone, man or woman, to be able to hold logic and lead with logic while staying attuned to his emotions. It takes special abilities and decades of hard work and maturing and integrating.

I don't know.

@EdgeGod900

Try to contribute with some seriousness and respect.

I’ll admit your trolling is more sophisticated.

That doesn’t change the low quality of the post.

Just cut it out.

Women cry over a lot of dumb shit they just need to move on from and its a waste of my time to listen to. Or its a skill issue, then idgaf. Grow up. I don't respect weakness of character. I empathize if its genuinely empathetic. But life is not very hard anymore.

How do you distinguish between actually understanding someone’s psychology and just believing your own interpretation of it?

I’m sorry if my initial callout was condescending.  I didn’t mean to lump everyone together. I find the jokes genuinely tiresome on the forum.

Because it's your persona

Since the strengthening of your own position comes mechanically at the expense of mine (because we are mirrors of one another) I defend myself. In this instance I’m being sharp-tongued pointing to the symbolic castration that lies behind the persona; the idea that its assertion stems from an initial deficiency that needs to be compensated for. Naturally bringing that up is humiliating.

You aren’t being particularly condescending lol these are just human-gorilla games it's everywhere.

Nevermind I’m starting to slop and I don’t feel like putting any extra effort into philosophizing about this right now, so I’ll stop here.

This should upset a female or two and then we can get a real answer to the question being asked.
