Are Chakras actually real? How do they work?

9 posts in this topic

First of all I'm sorry for some of my negative posts here lately

I want to actually better myself and my being

I have been doing a lot of introspection and research lately

A lot of research into my physical symptoms which seem very psychosomatic/connected to inner state

Have been reading a lot about chakras, kundalini and kriya yoga

I really need answers to some questions from people who actually KNOW that chakras are real from real experience, who know they are real just like they know their limbs are real, and know how they work

I was always very skeptical about charkas but something that I read has made me rethink that

I have to share something fucked up for me to explain, trigger warning I guess,

I was basically ab*sed in my backside if you know what i mean in my younger years

Someone said that people who get penetrated there fuck up their root chakra or something, or reverse kundalini

Which I thought might be bs but I started reading about what it might look like, and I have a lot of those symptoms, plus just a lot of other bodily symptoms that i have like 80% of the time but go away in 20% of the time where I am in a certain "aligned" state. These symptoms have more or less ruined and disabled large portions my life since I was 23, of which dysarthria, brain fog, TMJ and face/head inflammation are by far the worst, and of these, the dysarthria has nearly totally made me give up on ever finding romantic and sexual love. I always feel blocked and disconnected from my body and inflamed. would think that if this has to do anything with chakras it'd be around my throat chakra, but idk.

The fact that these symptoms sometimes dissapear is the only thing that gives me hope.

I want to say I'm not just thinking chakras are the answer or something, I know I need normal therapy for what happened to me which I never got. I know I shouldn't just do the chakra thing and not do any trauma care by itself, although in practice it might be the only thing for me because I don't have money for private clinics and the waitlists here are minimum a year.

If anyone here has actual experience and knowledge of trauma with chakras and what you can do with them, unblock them, etc. And what kundalini and kriya yoga have to do with this, please enlighten us.

  • How do I actually verify in my own direct experience if and how chakras, kundalini and energies discussed in kriya yoga exist?
  • Are there really 114 chakras or 7 chakras or that whole hindu system or is that fantasy? Are chakras different for different people?
  • What can I do with them to permanently heal them/use them for empowerment?

Thanks in advance, let's also just turn it into a real thread about Chakras etc where have a skeptical but open minded attitude, instead of one where Chakras are already assumed to be real etc like some new age religious type of way. Let's discuss the epistemology behind them and their processes.

@Leo Gura I am very interested about what you think about chakras and energy flow.
1) The eastern traditions say two type of energy flow into a human, one from the head, traverses through the body and goes out from the feet and base of the torso, the other kind does the reverse route.
2) there are 5 main energy centers (chakras) that have functionality (like sexuality, health, love, leadership, intelignece and so on) and 2 gates that carry no function except being gates.

Is this bullshit? how would one check this?

chakras and energy flow is 10000000% NOT bullshit. chakras are ABSOLUTLEY essential your functioning as a human organism (speaking from personal direct experience). every human is completely governed by the balance of their chakras, and once you go through the unblocking process, it becomes completely ludacris that every person in the world is not actively engaged in the purification of their chakras (even more so, they dont even know they exist!!!!!!).

Examples;

Thought patterns, overthinking is solely caused by imbalance in the third eye. Balancing the third eye also increases your perception, literally your senses become sharper - to the point where you can perceive auras for example.

Difficulties speaking up, taking up space, having courage and standing in yourself is completely correlated to the balance of you solo plexus chakra

Love; Heart chakra. if you didnt have a heart chakra, you wouldnt be able to experience physical Love. Its the center of your experience of Love as a human

Pleasure; sacral chakra. You would not be able to experience pleasure if you didnt have a sacral chakra.

Feeling of safety and groundedness; root chakra. I could not remember what it was like to actually feel SAFE, untill i unblocked my root

Every single major chakra opening i've experienced, have constituted an absolutley major, permanent shift in my life - the biggest i've experienced. You woudl absolutley not believe how major shifts are possible through chakra clearing, its completely limitless. you could take the most awesome person in the world, block all of his chakras, and he would be a complete noob

Basically all human functionings are explained completely through understanding the chakras. Its so fucking fascinating and, and once again, unbelieveable that everybody doesnt know about this stuff.

Unblocking chakras are both extremely difficult and yet very simple. Its about clearing out stagnated energies (stuck emotions, traumas). You do this by learning to FEEL. thats it.

From my experience, all of your issues should be solveable through unblocking and clearing chakras.

HOWEVER; I would recommend therapy. Focus on clearing out your trauma , and that will equal chakra openings eventually. Chakras and trauma / conditionings are completely interlinked.

Feel free to ask questions, I LOVE talking about this, and have quite some experience on the matter at this point

That's interesting, could you share more about your experiences? Like what kind of changes did you experience by opening chakras?

Also, why is it called "opening"? Is the sensation really like something was blocked and now it's open?

What practices did you do to accomplish this?

There are different interpretations of them. They are real in the sense that there are practices where you can become more personally aware of them. It’s kinda like asking “is anger real.” I mean I can see your face looking a certain way which I may call a sign of anger. I may see you yell, but the anger itself, the emotion, only you experience. So energy points are sorta like this. Do not take them too seriously and you’ll start to understand them. You don’t need to understand much about them to get benefits from your awareness of them. In addition there is a ton of dogma and group think and conformity around chakra practices so also be aware that some people have their own traditions and interpretations that may be helpful for them but not for you. A good practice to become aware of some of them is Qi Gong. They call them meridians in this practice and the energy qi. Look for meditations where you focus on breathing into and building up energy in the “lower heaven meridian.” This is a really nice simple meditation that focus on this lower point and you can get a lot out of it with some daily practice. I do this practice occasionally and it’s wonderful.

Also, why is it called "opening"? Is the sensation really like something was blocked and now it's open?

What practices did you do to accomplish this?

1.

Some of the most major ones;

i literally feel 100x more love, constant love, after big heart chakra openings.

My ability to speak and use my voice has gone from non existent to completely fluent after throat and solo plexus chakra openings. Social anxiety is gone.

My perception has increased so much - i can see auras and energies, and feel other people extremely intuitively. it has both ups and downs - i can instantly feel peoples intentions, but at the same time, being in big crowds is very very draining for me. I cant spend more than a couple of hours in big cities before I feel drained, because of the amount of stimuli and input.

Root and sacral chakra openings i've experienced solely as; constant feeling of impeccable safety (root chakra), and sacral chakra is like a constant feeling of pleasure. Also, enjoying movies, eating good foods and watching nature has become 50x more pleasureable, after chakra opening.

Also; I've had chronic constipation for 7 years, which im literally able to cure through releasing energetic contractions around my root chakra. it has not been 100% resolved yet, but the symptoms eleviate with every contraction i release. so far it has improved probably 60-70%. Unbelieveable, you literally are able to cure physical symptoms with your mind

2.

it really is a sensation of it "opening". Its a very vulnerable feeling. my experience is that it gets covered up by muscular / energetic contractions (trauma / conditioning), which causes us to lose contact with it. Its not that a chakra is something that can "open" and "close", but it can be more or less covered or concealed, which causes you to lose contact with its attributes and essences.

So when we speak of "imbalanced" chakras, I guess I would say that simply means the chakra is clutted with energetic contractions, meaning its attributes can become twitsed. For example contractions in the third eye region can lead to overthinking, anxiety based thinking, or other specific thinking patterns, depending on the contraction in question. Contractions in solo plexus can cause you to not be able to stand up for yourself. You will avoid conflict, you will not take up space or speak up.

3.

Lots of meditation - psychedelics. But really the big winner is trauma resolution, so find a way of doing that, that works for you. Therapy is good, ecstatic dance, breathwork, psychedelics. endless options really

i simply cannot overstate the signifance these shifts carry. it sounds kind of mundane when i put it into words, but these are TRULY life altering shifts. You literally are not the same person after your chakras start to open.

It also becomes very clear to spot which chakras other people are operating from. In the west, most people are very engaged in their third eye, and live almost solely from there (due to the societal emphasis on intellect and "thinking").

solo plexus chakra

I think it's 'solar' plexus.

Very interesting thread though, I think you're absolutely right about the importance of having properly functioning chakras, and the profound effect this has on your life.
