If you can tolerate how Toyota looks, go for Toyota.

Toyota's designers are out of their minds, making such ugly exteriors.

Check out the new Toyota RAV4. Looks good.

Used to look better when it had the wheel on the back.

Toyota aesthetics are circling the toilet.

The new Land Cruiser looks okayish. But their cars are designed for Asian eyes.

But they used to look good. Something changed.

Thanks guys. I will check it out. I don’t care how the car looks. My car won’t get me laid. I’m just trying to get places and not call triple A lol. The Honda CRV looks pretty cool. Cars are so damn expensive.

I have a Ford Focus 2014 that I got back in 2019 for 5k USD. It is working great but I know eventually I’ll need to get a different car. Got it at 80k miles and it has 135k miles on it now. It does 28 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on highway. My particular model had its transmission recalled so that’s why I’m trying to plan ahead.

Campervan. Go anywhere, cook, sleep seeing the stars, take some mushrooms and contemplate life.

I talked with the Toyota Dealer, he recommended I continue to drive my Ford Focus since it is running great so far with only 135k miles on it. And then come talk to him when I’m ready. I was kind of planning on doing that but I wanted to see what was out there. A plugin hybrid Prius might the car for me because I can charge it with electric and gas. It can go 50 miles on one charge before it starts using gas.

@r0ckyreed

People recommending Honda and Toyota know what they’re talking about.

Otherwise certain Ford Fusions or Chevy Malibus have good engines and are easy to work on, for less of a premium.

It usually depends on whatever engine they used, though. They’ll use the same engine in different models.

Don’t get a BMW lol. I wouldn’t risk a diesel engine or repairing a BMW in general.

Also, avoid anything with a CVT.

Keep your Focus, until there is a real problem. I had a Malibu until about 280,000 miles and it still ran well. It was rated for like 170,000.

Change the oil every 3000 miles and rotate the tires every 6000. See if there are options for your recall too. Also, if your car has a timing chain, replace that preemptively, usually around 120,000 miles.

Also don’t idle your car. Shut it off if you’ll be sitting for more than 15 seconds. You’ll use less gas restarting it and won’t dirty the engine with idle fumes. Obviously don’t do this at a red light, if you can’t risk getting stuck haha.

But Amazon, UPS, etc. all train this. A starter costs less than the gas you save by the time it burns out. I used to start and stop my personal vehicle and commercial vehicles hundreds of times a day. I have only replaced a starter once.

People can get a lot more out of their cars than they realize.

I’m all about reliability. Do not buy an electric or hybrid car. They break and are difficult to do work on yourself and buy cheap parts for.

Get a Honda or Toyota from 10-15 years ago used for like $6-7000 and drive it into the ground. You will get another 15 years out of it and save a ton of cash.

There is no reason to buy a new car unless you have cash to burn and are an exceptionally stable person with a big bank account. Always go used, you will save so much cash.

My buddy has a Honda Accord that used to be his Dad’s—they’ve each put about 200,000 miles on it :D

And our roads get salted—heavily. Take care of it and it will take care of you.
