Face exercises are really worth it?

4 posts in this topic

I don't think face exercises are worth the time and effort.

To me, it seems an instance of 'majoring in the minors'.

There are likely better levers to attain facial improvements (e.g., gaining muscle mass in the body, which makes the face looks more muscular, wearing functional orthodontic appliances, improving (neck) posture, etc.).

That said, I never tried doing these things for long enough to see if they actually wouldn't work.

The fact that Andrew Huberman was marketing one of such chewing gums makes me think they're less likely to work 😂

Yes so worth it. Improves airflow and vocal production. A voice teacher once told me think « aaah ». As in make the posture with your face and neck you would be doing by singing a big open « aaaah » then close your mouth. It’s more complex than that but that’ll get the ball rolling.

Chewing gum is not useful unless you seek out hard ass gums that don’t exist in your convenience stores. Those hard ones are worth it, I like them.

You can see it on the face of great vocalists. It’s open and free not all bunched up and closed. Singing itself does that to your face but you can help with these other practices if you don’t wanna sing.

But also you could have a double chin just cause you’re too fat and not because of the posture of your face. It gives so much more than fixing aesthetics. Fixing aesthetics is a foot note. It’s barely notable in the grand scheme of benefits.
