Skin care routine for face?

13 posts in this topic

Does anyone here have a facial skin care routine they follow? Something to reduce redness and make your face look healthier and skin clearer and nicer?

Sunscreen in the morning then a cleanser followed up by a moisturizer in the evening. Those are the three essentials.

I have an in depth blog witch covers pretty much everything somewhere. Will post later.

@Basman

idk if you can relate, but i feel so uncomfortable when i put sunscreen on my face, especially if it has to stay there all day. it makes me feel really dirty because there's so much residue. at the same time, i know that not using sunscreen isn't the best idea, either.

Have you tried different brands? You don't need that much.

If you have the tism I can imagine you being kinda of sensitive. You'll have to find something that works for you.

At the risk of sounding like exaggeration, SPF is one of the closest things we have to anti-aging. This trucker of 28 years never wore SPF and the side facing the window is visibly aged.

It's from a journal from New England, which is close to NY, but the dude probably drove all over the US. The constant exposure is the biggest factor.

Depends how deep you want to go.

Basics: drink water, sleep well. Biggest most direct visual effects.

Sunscreen/moisturizer + cleanser. Might need to work out your skin type oily/dry/combination to find one that suits.

Go a level higher? Vitamin C serum - brightens, firms, protects from free radicals & UV rays. Lactic acid (chemical exfoliation don't scrub your face). Retinol (biggest effect) - fine lines, clearing clogged pores, and evening out skin tone. It increases cell turnover and collagen production. This one had a very noticeable effect on me. NB beware! Start slow with retinol or it will burn your fucking face off and cause more redness. Additionally NO retinol or lactic acid within 4/5hrs of sun exposure. You will cause damage. Always at night.

I have no fine lines or sagging at 40 (this will change from now, can't stop aging and it hits women around this age with perimenopause). Sunscreen every day since 12. Hat + sunglasses. Fear of the incineration capabilities of the Australian sun - skin being good was a side effect.

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

@Natasha Tori Maru

hey:) i have a couple of questions, if that's okay, because you sound quite well-informed:)

i saw a cosmetologist a few months ago (just when i had started using retinol) and she advised me against using it. apparently, that one's better in the autumn and winter? or it can enhance certain problems, too. i think this sort of advice is always confusing to deal with because some people say retinol is the best thing ever and it will fix all your problems, and others say it's the opposite. how do i know what to believe based on that?

how do you manage to wear sunscreen every day and not feel bothered (grossed out) by it?

i have a combination of oily and dry skin and am finding that hard to deal with atm. around my eyes and on my forehead, it's really dry and wrinkly (despite being only 24 and moisturising twice a day), meanwhile my chin is prone to acne or being oily. do you know anything about this skin type or how to care for it?
