Need some insight on death

Leo has said when you die you dissolve into a sea of infinite love. That’s obviously best case scenario even if it means being forcefully ripped free of absolutely everything you’ve ever known. I can only hope we’re all blessed enough for that to be true for everyone. But that doesn’t account for the traditions that say there are karmic cycles where you have to either reincarnate here or take on some other form however many times before you make it all the way back. Doesn’t account for the claims of Hell realms and so forth. I’ve heard some traditions say things like whatever state of consciousness you die in, the same vibration carries over to the other side only amplified. I’ve heard it put like being a human is the highest blessing for a physical being because it gives you the most control over your spiritual evolution, and you can potentially get stuck in post life states of hell/purgatory that can subjectively go on for eons before you get this chance again. 
 

Is this likely just more fear based programming to follow a certain practice similar to how evangelical Christianity uses the threat of hell? Or could they be touching on something legit?

If it’s the latter I’m in deep shit if I were to die right now or soon. Some of the dream states I often go into are so horrific I wouldn’t wish them on anyone ever. So I’m worried about the possibility those might be a warning or preview of what’s to come with much greater intensity if I don’t get to working very seriously. I still have so, SO much hatred in my heart, (which I’ve gotten better about over the last year) extreme addiction to cheap pleasures, laziness, etc.
