@jimwell you are in heaven right now. Heaven is a void of nothing where nothing happens. Close your eyes thats heaven.

Imagine Mitch McConnell living till 200. Imagine Trump living till 200. Imagine Netanyahu living till 200.

That is Hell.

Would your take on people like Luigi Magnione change if that was the reality?

One of my last hopes is living long enough to see all these billionaire oligarchs die off.

If billionaire oligarchs can live for 200 years, we are so screwed.

People don't need to die for our civilization to ameliorate itself. Billionaires also do a lot of good for the world. Our political system needs to adopt to give a good standard of living for the masses and I believe AI based UBI can bring that about.

@LordFall

I pondered the idea of becoming immortal seriously and deeply for a few years, about 11 years ago. I didn’t want to die. I wanted to live eternally. At that time, I believed it would be the greatest thing that could ever happen to me. But in the end, I realized I was completely wrong. It would actually be the greatest tragedy that could happen to me.

It doesn't matter how intelligent, how handsome, how strong, how charismatic, how healthy, how, grateful, how appreciative, how, joyful, etc I am. In the end, I am a little worm compared to God, the unlimited self who possess unlimited intelligence, beauty, joy, love, excitement, power, etc. This automatically means my capacity to feel good, to comprehend, to succeed, to feel grateful, to explore, to enjoy, etc are limited because I inhabit a human body that is limited in all domains. This eventually results in dissatisfaction and suffering.

It doesn’t even matter how beautiful or exciting the world becomes, because the world itself is still limited, and my ability to absorb and enjoy all its beauty is also limited. This surely leads to eventual dissatisfaction and suffering.

Suppose I found a way to conquer the suffering, I would still end up feeling bored for eternity. This would be the greatest evil God could inflict on me!

But I do support significantly extending the human life span. I think 200 years would be a good starting point. If that functions, then extend to 500 years, then to 1,000 years. I guess a limited human will suffer intensely after a few thousand years of life. The counterargument: "But humans will invent a technology that will upgrade their brain and spiritual capacity that will lead to eternal satisfaction." is weak. I don't and can't buy it.

Ponder this: You possess a limited human body but want an unlimited lifespan?

That would be a great mismatch, a big error.

This seems like spiritual bypassing. If God thought that the best way to experience reality was without life that's how he would've built it. He clearly set humanity on a path to explore more and more of the universe and itself in the process. The clearest sign of that for me is the known universe contains about 2 trillion different galaxies and we're barely on the cusp of being able to explore our own galaxy.

I think that once mankind makes peace with itself and unites our technology in one axis of power and progress, our potential shall grow exponentially quite quickly.

@Something Funny Luigi Mangione is an immature murdered. Speaking of manliness, the way to help your people is not to lash out violently at the people that have slightled you. It is an understandable reaction as many people feel his anger vicariously but it ultimately doesn't do much and is not solving any systemic issues.

@Natasha Tori Maru Nothing I say is based on magic, I just extrapolate the current trajectory we're on. Hilarious that people hate on Musk for not hitting his own timelines while each of us has failed on our own words many times but I doubt anybody on the forum is taking on these kinds of challenges regularly or at all in their lives.

If you're not a business owner it's very easy to laugh on the sidelines wihout putting your neck on the line. Accomplishing massive projects is not easy, even just ones like throwing events but the ones that choose to take on civilization changing projects will inevitably invite the derision of the masses from a lack of them empathizing with ambition.

Death IS spirituality. Having hopes against death IS spiritual bypassing. High level masters just sit there dead all day.

@LordFall lol what. Assumptions. I am co owner of a construction business. I think I know some shit about putting my arse on the line and getting results.

You have fantastical thinking and make certain comments about the future - and these are just guesses. Even funnier - Bryan Johnson constantly repeats "humans are terrible at predicting the future".

You can try to frame it how you like, but this is what is happening - fantastical hype thinking.

No, spiritual bypassing is trying to use spiritual concepts to avoid playing the game of life and to fall into passivity and nihilism. God created us with the potential to improve and overcome our conditions and it's been working thus far so I don't see why transcending the current limit of biomedicine would now be anti spiritual.

Believing in science to keep advancing itself as it has done since the dawn of time is not guessing, it's having a vision for the future of our species. Many people would've called an airplane fantastical hype thinking. We've gotten this far and we'll go much further still.

Solving aging and achieving biological immortality doesn't seem that insane to me in the grand scheme of things and some of our top minds as a species are working on it as well as billions of dollars being spent on it yearly so I would call it quite grounded in reality.

UBI doesn't threaten the status of the elites too much, people reinvests back into their companies anyway and the costs of assets keep rising while consumption is now predictable which is what the consumeristic culture of the west is based on. It gives a win-win way for the elites and the masses to collaborate together in the future of mankind.

I think it's a beautiful vision for the future of humanity as it solves the problem of those wanting out of forced labor and those that want to compete for status and scarce experiences can still do so while people eventually get free food and lodging.

Hitler said the same thing. These are meaningless statements. It says nothing about the morality or where it can go.

Cut a dogs head off and see how long it lives, wow science.

Suck organs out of your cloned baby. Wow science.

All in the name of fear of your creator.

I am all for helpng humanity with its troubles, but cloning yourself to harvest stuff is weird imo.

Im for curing all disease but not death. Make life as comfortable as you can for everyone but you must die.

This is a false equivalency. You can't conflate things like this, Hitler decided that most of mankind was undesirables and worth sacrificing to reach his goals. You're now comparing this to a dude running a science experience in a petri dish to help all of us live longer and cure the diseases that are ruining our lives. If you have to rely on extreme reductionism to make your points I don't think they're good points.

You can die on your own terms nobody is forcing you not to. We're talking about extending human life time infinitely, if you don't enjoy our post scarcity future then I wouldn't personally vote for stopping you to end yourself if that's what you want. You are just arguing against medical research at the current moment though.

I believe it's likely that rich people will find a way to live longer eventually. Just not any time soon. Something like 150-200 maybe.

The market for immortality is huge. The motivation and funds are there.
