Now, think about this. Really think about it. If you were actually following this advice, would you, or would you not, be taking lots of drugs every day?

If this was really your last day alive, then there would be no consequences in the morning, so you'd want to enjoy yourself wouldn't you?

I think anyone in their right mind would take drugs.

Yeah I guess it's supposed to be a wise saying on gratitude and appreciating life but if I died tomorrow I would for sure liquidate all my assets and fuck a bunch of escorts and be high all day until I meet the creator tomorrow.

you need a good balance between short-term and long-term planning to optimise both short-term and long-term fulfilment, even though happiness can only ever be experienced now.

which is not to say that a change in long term plans (e.g. a terminal diagnosis) wouldn't change how you spend your last days.

I'd probably spend that day with my family and dog.

Or maybe taking some high dose of psychedelics as my last resort to awaken.

It's a BS advice anyway, it's just yet another one of those catchphrases people pull out from their repertoire of shit phrases, along phrases like "love will find you when you least expect it" and "Balance in life is key" and shit like that lmfao. I call it the Normie Repertoire. But realistically, if you had only 1 day to live, that means that some apocalyptic event is about to happen, not that you have cancer or something. So there's no way you'd actually have time or opportunity to enjoy yourself the way you think you would. "Living as if it was my last day", for me would probably mean doing the same shit I done any other day. Not go fuck a bunch of hookers lmfao

i guess the purpose of that phrase which is clearly failing to translate is, the power of presence. 

when you are fully present, time stops being a factor and you become fully immersed in being. in that state, you don't care what's gonna happen tomorrow, tomorrow doesn't register in your brain.

so basically, that phrase is telling you to structure your life in a way where you maximize presence, and not do activities that stimulate egoic stuff like attachment and fear.
