I feel like Ralston has an implicit notion of self that is very similar to Sartre.  He thinks you have the ability to control your life.  This is why he's so popular because he finds a way to bridge enlightenment with real life.

moment of enlightment will reveals that you’re a slave to the cosmos first prompt. A sprinkle of dumb dust trying to fight the music you’re stuck in.

The irony is that only God shows God to Himself. Then you become the master of knowing all things!

Strange how it works, but I am literally you right now. There never was a "me"; you just happened to stumble upon me because God made me for you at this moment. In the next moment, God will make something else for you. And the funniest part is that you’re God; and it’s fucking funny how it all works without you, yet with only you.

Yes.  If you need to create this, I get it.

The entire line of argument is stupid, biased, misleading, and false.

DMT can produce more than enlightenment within 30 seconds. Not a single Ralston student will ever reach that level of consciousness in their lives.

What’s the point if it is only temporary

Just finished that chapter. That's where it gets juicy. He's not holding back in this book.

You’ll never fully enlightened without psychedelics. ( you can definitely get far without it )

but certain insights can only happen in a trance maniac state.

Time and time again, I try to believe it’s possible, but it’s not.

And if it were, it would be through mania, psychedelics, ultra-hardcore meditation, or existential panic that releases intense neurochemistry for a while. Most of those happen extremely rarely (like Eckhart Tolle) and are about as reproducible as winning the lottery, so they’re largely not something a serious person should look into.

Even Ralston is fooling himself. He used them and did a lot of drugs, yet still wants to believe his shift in consciousness wasn’t caused by them. It might or might not be, but I still think it was. Of course, the difference with Leo is that he lacks his level of integrity and prefers making more money. I’m not saying what he teaches is a scam, but him even associating with Tony Robbins tells me all I need to know about him. All his workshops are completely useless, kindergarten-level material.

Enlightenment might not even happen while taking psychedelics, but psychedelics can reshape your consciousness and framing long term, even when you’re “sober” afterward.

No one wants you to take psychedelics, usually because they give you extreme sovereignty. Everyone loses their power over you. No one can take Ralston as a “superior teacher” after LSD or DMT.

People keep ignoring that I've done my fair share of the substances, and yet are still dismayed when I say it's not IT. Believe whatever you want.

Bringing heresy to the church is of course not going to be welcomed.

Let's see how long it takes people to make a religion out of this.

Mastery.

It took a lot of work to do it - 10 years.

Kudos to Ralston. The guy is almost 80 and working his ass off.

A notable difference I observed between Bernadette Roberts and Peter Ralston is this:

Ralston posits that the self arises solely from the social domain:

Quote

Your self-awareness only exists because of the social domain.

In contrast, Roberts asserts that the self is independent of society, functioning instead as a product of the brain:

Quote

Because the mind bends on itself it sees or is aware of itself; thus we have the knowing experience "This is I," "I am myself," and so on. Self is not a socially learned or conditioned experience; it is not a mistake or an illusion. Rather, self or consciousness is a concrete function of the human brain; without it, man would not be man.

I lean toward agreeing with Roberts in this case, but that doesn’t mean Ralston is wrong, as the social domain does play a significant role in the development of self.
