Stay Away From Idiots

45 posts in this topic

I was left to die on the streets by 'my family' 1 year ago. Without a warning. Without any money. Now, i have cut ties with them.

Using God's intelligence i have managed to survive thus far. Although it's still super difficult.

Because i was addicted to smoking weed, i realized that i needed to attend some NA meetings , otherwise i am gonna die.

I have also attended Mormon church in the past (just for survival purposes) but i couldn't stand it after 8 months. Too much ego.

Anyways, i am attending like clockwork every weekend some NA meetings, near where i live, for 13-14 months consistently.

I have managed to not touch weed thus far, and i don't wanna inhale this toxic smoke any longer. I'm  tired.

I just need the meetings for some social connection, because i'm alone.

The experience in the meetings has taught me that most NA members have very little integrity and are basically full of sh!t.

I am a quite selfless person. I have found the hard way that 99% of people are not.

I have been open and truthful about my situation. i don't ask for money or stuff from them.

There have been some rare exceptions, of high quality individuals who did offer me a small assistance.

The majority though, are so unconscious that they pretend like they are helping , when in fact they are not.

I had a 50 year old former coke addict promise me that he would buy me a mosquitoe repellent.

He never did.

I stopped going to that particular meeting because the selfishness became too unbearable after a certain point.

We live in an insane society. Most people will not take lightly if you don't follow their delusions, bigotry and nonsense.

Be aware.

Of course. Addicts cannot be trusted because they cannot even trust themselves. They have self-control problems, which means they are inherently unreliable. Reliable people don't become addicts in the first place.

Sorry to hear of your family problems.

If you’re quitting weed, I strongly suggest you try these supplements:

- NAC (with some glycine powder)

- agmatine sulfate

They are a miracle for turning off the addiction in your brain. You can search reddit to see how many people had success with them. Let me know if you need any guidance on how to take those supplements!

Do you live in a car, or on the street, or where?

Do you have (or plan to have) some very basic job?

What are you doing to get out of this situation, materially?

Words can't describe You.

I can't afford them. I don't struggle with addiction. I struggle with poverty.

I live in an abandoned building in the woods.

I currently don't have a job. I struggle every day, just to get some grounding food inside my stomach, let alone to find a job.

Jobs i can easily find are filled with toxic car pollution and filthy cigarrete smoke. 50% of people in Athens smoke.

I get 192 euros per month from the goverment, which last me 2-3 days.

People here walking their dogs don't help either.

I just want a job that is worth my time and effort.

My plan is to get a decent enough job, which doesn't ruin my health too much, save some money and move to the Netherlands.

I have Proficiency diploma in english and i have some decent programming skills.

In Greece, if you are not the son or friend of a wealthy businessman, you're basically fked. Nepotism is strong here.

How are you even finding time to post on this forum? I would think time could be better spent improving your conditions

@SQAAD If I were you, I'd take on any sensible job I could get, just to be able to rent a room and afford food. I mean, you have to start somewhere.

Also, you seem to complain about Greece and Athens. Why don't you move then? You are an EU citizen, so you can move to any EU country you want. You don't have family ties, career ties, or even apartment ties - so what's stopping you?

Maybe the prospects of finding a good job would be higher elsewhere. Apply everywhere, and then move to wherever you get the job.

I just did a google search and a 500g loaf of bread costs around €1.10 to €1.25 in Athens. How the hell does 192 euro last you 2-3 days?!

You talk about integrity, but ask yourself, are you being honest with yourself? You can’t find a job at a restaurant or something to just save up enough for a hostel or room? You can’t work in a restaurant as a dishwasher and save some money up? I remember when you made your thread about how you’re homeless and to be honest I think this is much more of a mental / belief problem than a money one if you are still being picky about work…  My friend YOU LIVE IN AN ABANDONED SHACK. Go to the center of Athens and start asking restaurants if you can clean… You can save up money and get into at least a hostel or shelter or room.

You talk about how selfless you are... You point out how other people are somehow a problem, how you're in the right here. Dude you need to take a very LONG look in the mirror. You do not sound dumb nor like you lack an able body to do something to get out of this situation. You have 200 euros, how are you spending that in a few days? This sounds solely like you are in a spiral downward through negative beliefs and self sabotage. Poverty is not your problem, it is likely some unresolved issues around your self worth and childish victim mindset you use to cope. I'm going to tell it to you straight because I think some people may be hesitant to offend you given your position. You're clearly smart and more than capable of sustaining a reasonable degree of survival, more than what you're doing now. But you are acting like a victim. You are in this situation because of your choices and while I'm sure there are people that have treated you poorly and made promises thy broke, you are putting far too much energy into complaining and blaming your problems on them. You need to get off your high horse and go get a job. Stop letting your stubborn inner child run the show. Love them and start making the right choices for your life as an adult. No one is coming to save you. I don't give a damn if your sissy little lungs don't feel great from a bit of cig smoke. You're a strong guy and your body is far more adaptive and able to heal itself, you're lowering your life expectancy through self sabotage way more than 6-12 months of second hand smoke in a shitty job to save up enough to get out of an abandoned slum.

Why you say that? Please explain.

Addiction is irresponsibility.

What else is there to say?

I've seen this first hand where I work.

Coworkers are willing to spend $60 on a pack of 7-OH every two days but can barely pay their rent or buy food to eat.

Surface level, yes.

But your assertion is not accounting for genetic and environmental factors that contribute to an addictive personality.

There are entire fields of study devoted to understanding addiction, simply reducing it to irresponsibility is not adequate enough in my opinion.

@Terell Kirby I wasn't giving a total account of it. Merely explaining why addicts are untrustworthy. Whether its genetic or not is irrelevant here.

Hard words.

But I must agree, if we are to speak truth.

And this is coming from someone who was homeless for a time in my 20s.

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

I think there's a lot of truth here as well.

My intuition is telling me you don't like the world and the way it is, and your current situation is a manifestation of your wanting distance from it... more so than a manifestation of structural constraints.

And there's nothing wrong with that per se, so long as you acknowledge it and accept the lot that position manifests.

I think you need to forgive yourself and others for being faulty and rejoin the humans. Everyone is doing the best they can.
