Thoughts on Bonnie Blue and Sex positivity/Negativity?

14 posts in this topic

I find bonnie blue and other women similar to her like Lily Phillips and Kazumi so interesting. Their behaviour is obviously an exaggeration of human sexuality but there's a lot to learn from it. Shows that it's a massive deal because they're pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable in society. If the whole of society was sex positive it wouldn't really be a worthy news story, just women enjoying their lives and intertwining it into their careers as public entertainers as they see fit.

I think it's cool to see people be so comfortable in their sexuality and be so resistant to the fear of judgement. Obviously most people shouldn't probably live like that but there's something there for all of us to learn in terms of self-love and being resistant to conformity and group think.

They remind me of sacred prostitutes of past civilizations.

It's fine as far as helping people overcome sexual repression. But being too liberal about sex is not good.

Sex requires constraints.

Sure but these constraints are much closer to being repressed rather than being widely pushed too far in our modern society.

Very debatable.

We'd need to narrow the claim rather than discussing all of "modern society".

Modern society is a hodgepodge of sexual repression, liberalism and hedonism. Some people need liberation, some need constraints.

I don't see comfort in it. Rather lousiness and a need to make quick money and notoriety. Glorification of prostitution. Eventually people will condemn the repetitive patterns of her behavior because that's not something we want kids to look up as role models. Hedonism at it's finest and moral debauchery. It's not even normal. A complete lack of emotional involvement. That's like a blow up doll sorry. This is not sex positivity at all, rather sexploitation.

I don’t think she deserves hate for it. I also don’t think it should be actively encouraged.

The issue is women influence the girls. Especially if these feminists don't want men to influence young girls. How else will girls know how to behave? It's called role models. You want young girls to have prostitutes as role models? Why? What for?

Why does the way somebody live their life shock you so much? The main reason that prostitution is shunned is it breaks down the structures of society, it's the most basic profession for a reason. Males exchanging labor for access to femininity. Her turning it into a performance arts and pushing the boundaries of what culture can take is applied artful sociology imo.

Bonnie Blue is an extreme. she doesn't represent most young women in Britain or the wider Western world. For many sex positvity is just about enjoying sex and not having hangups on it.

I'm with the idea of sexuality being sacred and liberated, but I don't consider what they're doing to be anything like that. They treat sex in consumptive terms from the having mode rather than as a process of intimate co-creation in the being/becoming mode. Ask yourself, does what they do bring people closer together or drive them further apart? The men who obsess over them are not learning to connect more deeply with themselves let alone women. That is not sacred sexuality, at least imo.

Funny story, I saw Bonnie Blue on a flight a few months ago, she was on the first row as well, so I had to walk right past her. She did not look comfortable in her skin, she had a hood up, was holding on to a teddy bear and aggressively colouring in her colouring book. She took pics with whoever asked but I did kinda feel sorry for her imagining what it must be like everyone looking at her and whispering behind her back but then less sympathy because she really courted this notoriety.

A wider point what shes doing in her career isn't really a case of sexual liberation, its really just marketing, its a gimmick. She's smart in that she knows what to say and what to do to get attention but I dont think its representative of what she would do if money and fame weren't involved. She still could be sexually free and get that side of her out with swimgers parties or orgies or whatever, but sleeping with 1000 guys at a time is not something anyone really craves to do realistically. Its like someone who does eating challenges and puts them online, yeah they probably love food but if content wasn't involved they wouldnt eat that much.
