I don't think its a bad idea personally.

Its good to be selective about who you let into your country.

The world will become and more monitored in the next few years. Which will eventually lead into accountability going up and crime ceasing to exist in the next 20. years. I think it's a good thing overall but will have some awkward hiccups here and there.
