@Hojo Nah, I’m fine with there being a clinical definition and then a colloquial use in culture.

Didnt Jeffrey Epstein assault girls who were like 13 and 14?

Whether that meets the strictest definition of “pedophile” or not feels irrelevant to me; these girls were for all intents and purposes children who being were preyed upon and abused by full adult males for their own sexual gratification.

Like, this isn’t a case of an 18 year old sleeping with a 16 year old going to the same school - it was almost textbook definition rape/predation/child molestation. How many women alive today are still living with the trauma of what Epstein and his cabal did to them? Some have even taken their own lives.

I do agree sexual ethics is complicated and we’ve kind of loss some of the nuance of consent, intimacy and legality in favour of just “icky vibes”, but this wasn’t icky vibes. This was genuinely human evil manifest. If you wrote a Hollywood spy movie of a guy uncovering what Jeffrey Epstein did it would be criticised for being “too unrealistic.”

@Thought Art the clinical definition dosent match their actions. So you aren't. They aren't having sex with pre pubescent.

Sounds like a hebephile to me. Not paedophile

Your avatar change got me - almost choked on my food :P

It is far easier to trick someone, than to convince them they have been tricked.

@Hojo Man, make the distinction. They are under 18 but older than say, 12.

18 is adult.

So they are under aged girls. Likely, the technical term would be hebephile. technically not pedophilia.

But, colloquially people just call anything under aged pedophile. People don’t in common speech make clinical distinctions between hebephiles and pedophiles.

So, I am fine with people using that term colloquially, or clinically.

18 year olds are adults. Which is what you were trying to say before makes you a pedo (when used colloquially), but it doesn’t because they are legally adults.

Like, are you just being stubborn or or are you struggling with making distinctions here? It isn’t that complicated.

I sense you literally just didn’t understand my previous comment…..

@Thought Art your saying there is a distinction between 11 and under being a pedophile that fine but then you are also okay calling them pedophiles when they are having sex with girls that are older. I'm not being contradictive here you are. You want to call them pedophiles but also say that having sex with someone older than 12 isn't a pedophile. I understood what you said but you are saying both things at the same time.

You are saying before puberty is pedophiles and after puberty is also pedophiles therefore making your definition run under tha blanket child. ( younger that 18) if that's the cause you are a pedophile too.

You want it both ways while also not including yourself so you gish galloping around the definitions.

The collective term means everyone  attractive under 18 ( the hot ones)that you are sexually attracted too ( which is not under your control) makes you a pedophile. You want the definition of pre pubescent and the definition of after puberty while excluding yourself from it.

I don't care about heeby  geeby  philes its either pre pubescent which makes epstein non pedophiles or after puberty which makes you one also.

I don't know why there are so many different terms for fucking kids its weird. 15 types of kid fuckers. More types of child molesters than personality types.

If you ever found a 17 year and 11 months old sexually attractive you are definitionally a pedophile so just say I am whats the big deal.

Woke mind virus is the big deal.

@Hojo No man. You say those things. You are struggling 😂. In terms of definitions what I am saying is true. The ability to handle nuance is important.

Anyway, cringe police 👮

@Leo Gura My bad. I got caught up in the distinctions of terms, definitions etc. It’s interesting to explore language, distinction and sense making…., however with this subject yeah it is cringe from the beginning.

When discussing the Epstein situation these are conversations that do come up. We as a culture don’t know how to talk about this. Conflict, confusion, negative emotions are natural and healthy. Also, knowing when to stop talking about it.

Protecting teens and kids is obviously the right thing to do. These people like Epstein are abusers of minors and should be brought to justice.
