Game industry changed. 

Probably Leo nailed it. Back then before around 2007/2008 game industry was non conformity mostly. It was a new medium where you didn't know how to milk the people. You need to experiment to find out. Everything was new and fresh and creative. Nowadays everything is so optimized to capitalize every bit of the game. Of course that feels soulless.

Ai games in the future will have more soul than games nowadays.

Nintendo is still the best example of a properly managed brand that does not sell out and remains creative and innovative.

It is amazing how long they have maintained top tier quality.

You are sorta disconnected from Reality in this regard if you still think this is true.
Have you seen the recent Pokemon Z-A debacle?
How about the 20$ DLC for DK Bananza which was a bare bones extra game mode.

Nintendo's soul has literally left the company. The people at the top used to have a true passion for creative game development but they've since either left or literally died of cancer.

Perhaps they were killing it with the Switch 1 but the Switch 2 shows the original Nintendo is dead.

Fr. Even that new Donkey Kong this year game is unbelievably well made. Not my thing, but it cannot be denied how exceptionally designed that game is.
