The power of conformity is such that I am contemplating conformity initially because of conformity. The thought of conformity didn't appear in my mind autonomously.

The whole discussion really boils down to what public thought-streams I am swimming in. Lost in the waters, I forget to honour myself and the inherent non-transferable power of thinking independently for myself. The gravitational pull of humanity, science, religion, actualized.org is such that I'm locked to think in certain ways and not others. Imagine an infinite 3D space of Mind where humanity is just a tiny interconnected cluster: how do I break free from conforming to this cluster... and start the expansive exploration of my Infinite Awake Mind!

This is the real pursuit and juice of philosophy.

Autonomy of mind is hard to achieve yet it feels like being a child again. But I can see is like hacking life, is like creating your own paradigms, like programming your life, heck I guess programming reality, through deep understanding. Why is hard? Because we get distracted when we should focus more, plus fundamentally is not taken seriously. Also you need to develop your own road maps to navigate through your mind, like creating crutchs for you to use, and this is what takes months and years. It needs to be super personalized. It is essentially learning to relieve social pressure to connect with your intelligence more, and that is easier for some and harder for others, and some are clueless. Social pressure is the pressure of needing to clap at the end of a show, for example, and it kills your autonomy of mind.

Funny example of conformity - comments under cave exploration posts on reddit. 

I am 100% convinced that they are pure group think at this point. Every time there is a caving post, it's always the same hateful and derogatory comments about how dumb and unnecessary risky caving is, with literally zero thought to them.

Ironically, a bit like how virtually every post in this thread says or implies "conformity is bad". What you fear, you tend to dichotomize, absolutize, extremize, reject, deny. It creates a solid basis for conformity.

That's actually a dangerous idea. You do not need to be social to fall into conformity because the group-think gets to you through the media you consume, including books, videos, etc.

Which is why many anti-social internet freaks are into all sorts of conformist ideologies, conspiracy theories, and sub-cultures, etc.

4Chan is peak conformity and it is full of the most anti-social people.

When someone tries their best to be non conformist it is the most conformist thing ever. You don't get any more conformist than trying not to be conformist. Being non conformist means that you analyze all your behaviours and using your very mind, you decide what behaviour to keep or not, as opposed to blindly doing something just because you saw others doing. 

Also conformity isn't wrong. I'd say that in everyday life 90% of the cases, conforming to societal norms is the best thing one can do. Fastening your seatbelt while driving and many other conformist actions such as fastening the seatbelt are extremely beneficial and wise for one's survival. 

I work in construction and conforming to sound brick laying techniques is the most wise thing I could do rather than to be all non conformist and to improvise and not use a spirit level would make my wall to collapse over me. 

One has to be smart when deploying nonconformity. Nonconformity just for the sake of it is not wise. 

Non conformity should be only at an intellectual and thinking level. Having a mind that inovates thougth and participates in unique intellectual enquiry on various topics as opposed to running on the insights generated by the group-think is the most wise way to deploy non conformity.
