Getting a job at McDonalds - How to best use that money?

13 posts in this topic

Hey so I'll be working casually at maccas pretty soon.

What I will spend my money on: Personal development resources, Life Purpose Course, Leo's booklist, anything related to my passions, useful appliances I need at home, healthy food, gym

What I'm not sure I should spend that money on: Fiction books for entertainment, clothes and other materialistic stuff so long as I have extra money

I'd also love to take recommendations for what to spend the money on

Fiction books for entertainment

You can borrow books at the library for free.

Does your library charge late fees?

Judging by the way your wrote this question, I'm gonna assume you're <20.

Based on that...

^Invest in this^ Have a bold reason for doing so, and making that investment will excite the crap out of you.

Once you've done that, I'd recommend saving up for travel.

As I type this, I'm in the airport 1 hour away from flying back to east Asia (as an American). Zero regrets every time I do it.

Cheers

Whatever helps your development the most. Whatever makes you stronger and better positioned in life, more capable in the future.

It's like investing in yourself.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Go to the library for free, you can often request books from other libraries yours doesn't have. i love the library and thrift stores, you can find more styles at thrift stores than clothing stores.

Vegetable gardening and a used bicycle. A traditional style razor like merkur, if you have facial hair, you'll save money.

It depends - do you have any hobbies? Since you're already going to be spending on personal development resources, you might also want to invest in things that help you decompress and relax, like a good video game, a sport, or something similar. Just a suggestion.

@Leo Gura How long would you recommend to finish your LP Course?

I'm fucking gunning to buy it for New Year and I was planning to give it a year to finish but I gotta ask the creator obviously

You should be using whatever resources you have to get a better job. Use your money to learn a new software, enroll in a course, whatever you need to get a better job. McDonald's is a place to escape. What kind of work do you like doing? Use the money to get that kind of job.

Don't be shit. Be good.

Do your quickest and best to get out of that job and develop some better source of income. Food service jobs are rough and you will be on your feet for hours a day.

And that's the real danger of working a manual labor job, food service, and being a wage slave. You will come home so exhausted and tired from being on your feet for eight hours straight without any breaks, that when you come home you'll only want to sleep.

You won't have the energy for building a better career or learning new skills.

If you watch one video a day it’ll be around 3 months

That’s what I did this summer at least

If you're gonna work night shift, I'd quit day one

It's like the opposite of self-development. It's a slow, miserable decline.

First, you're a little tired, 6 months later, you can't get an erection with a destroyed libido

Speaking from experience

Why are you asking us this? Serious question.

Beware of the Nacebo effect; what you believe becomes true.
I was tortured for several years by extremely severe insomnia and my libido hasn't changed much.
