How to improve eyesight?

10 posts in this topic

Hello, for all my life (I`m 18) I`ve been gamer and stayed in front of screen at least for 6 hours a day. On weekends it is around 12 hours a day. And my eyesight for all this time was literally perfect, 100%. But few months ago I got my first job as a salesman. So I had to speak with people in google meet for 8 hours a day. From that point on I started noticing that my eyesight started depleting. A month ago I was at ophthalmologist and she said that now my eyesight is 0.9 (90%).

So, what`s the deal? How is it that I`m for almost 13 years played games for more hours than I do now and had perfect eyesight and then it just dropped in one month to 0.9?

And how to recover my eyesight to normal again? Thanks.

I heard there are some exercises you can do with your eyes that can improve eyesight, like Yoga for the Eyes.

Maybe i will give a try soon, i am 33 and my eyesight is getting worse.

Thanks. Don`t be too late with it. The more you suspend it, the slower and harder it will be to recover.

Did your ophthalmologist not give you any sort of explanation or recommendations?

Maybe the doctor is also confused. An unusual case.

The closer you are to the screen the worse it is for astigmatism, from moving your eyes further. Can you zoom your camera in and sit further from your computer screen? You can improve astigmatism, try to not move your eyes, lol, move your head instead. Move screens further away, and less time on screens or books., proper posture and the screen straight out from your face so your pupil is in center of your eye socket.

Wear sunglasses and brimmed hats, avoid rubbing your eyes, eat carrots, spend more time looking at far stuff and sleeping,....

It might sound rebellious but I think video gaming could actually improve your vision in certain ways, and when you withdrew from it, you could have experienced a dip due to that. Certainly if you do something like open-eyed staring meditation, trying to stare at smaller and smaller details of a grainy surface or object, that does lead to transient increases in visual acuity. Video gaming (maybe specifically action games) is essentially a dynamic version of that.

I've been able to increase the clarity of my sight through certain supplements - things like vitamin D, A, Zinc etc. (including nightsight).

It's not perfect as I still wear glasses for near stuff like reading/screens, but I have cylinders (astigmatism) making it hard to focus sometimes. Those I believe can not be corrected that easily.

Besides this approach, spend as much time in natural environment as possible. Prolonged stationary usage such as gaming may make your eyes lazy and dry out due to severely reduced blinking. Natural habitat such as forests can help you revitalize your eyes, I believe it relates to some kind of metabolism increase by using it (varying focus, blinking etc.) as well as the Sun.
