Mike Israetel's PhD is a Joke

Despite all the drama, Mr Mike's advice is really top notch.

Your bias towards him is funny to say the least. He's not that special, tons of channels better than his. One example, his advice on slowing down eccentric is bad.

In general, it's better to listen to people that are natural and trained natural for many many years. Because what works for enhanced people might not necessarily work as good for natural ones.

For the amount of subs he has, he's clearly overrated. especially now, with what has come out.

The ideal exercise is not gym, it is sport.

Badminton is the most fun exercise ever. And it works you like a sweaty mule.

Ideal depending on what juice you want. There are few sports where you pass out from lifting 2.25x your bodyweight that is done better than in a gym.

Something tells me the extreme levels of fumbling of finding it within yourself to change the story two times (or more?) and having your friend make a response video instead of yourself (which ended up being flawed because you misinformed them), is because this happened in the weekend and he was high as fuck and completely mentally incapacitated.

I haven't seen all his stuff, but of the stuff I've seen it was good.

People are so eager to tear him a new asshole. The amount of drama these fitness influencers create is nuts. It's like watching children squabble on the playground, but half of them got PhDs.

They actually take this fitness drama seriously. Like it has any import whatsoever. It's like mice fighting over a peanut.

Lol

@Leo Gura That's how it works if youre a fraud, or lie. You get called out. The universe punishes you in the form of other ppl trying to bring you down to the ground.

I don't see how Mike is a fraud. He has a PhD in a shallow and mostly pointless field. Okay. But he does say intelligent things and he is basically a pro bodybuilder. How is that a fraud? He makes entertaining and educational content. Is it all 100% true? No, but for this field it is true enough.

Yeah, I don't get how Mike's PhD is necessarily fraudulent.

There may be some valid arguments that some are making about the merits of his doctoral dissertation, but those are just their opinions.

@Leo Gura Might not be a fraud, but he lied, trying to save his ass. And he even dragged his friends with him.

“Dr.” is part of his brand authority. Misleading followers about the integrity of his degree is seen as dishonest self-presentation. It’s a serious breach of trust.

Lots of people follow him because of his science-based authority. so when that authority turns out to have cracks, especially because he tried to save his ass by lying about it, it undermines the whole identity he's built,

it’s not just about a sloppy dissertation. it’s about integrity and accountability when someone is selling expertise.

Well, he is technically a Dr. That's not fraud. His PhD is just shallow. This seems to be more of a systemic issue with academia moreso than a Mike problem. He did the bare minimum to get an offical credential. That's still more intellectual work than most of his critics did. It's not like a PhD is just a research paper. It's years of classes and reading too. He is clearly well educated despite his sloppy paper.

Bodybuilding is more art than science. All it takes is common sense, great genetics, and some supernatural motivation.

Really, bodybuilding is a stupid activity. The intelligent thing is to exercise for health and focus on other matters.

If you look deep down, all these gym-rats are insecure egos just looking for love and truth, but totally lost in gym-rat group-think.

The formalism of science hides its shallowness.

Exactly. I always had deep compassion for the guy. Everything about him so evidently points to a crushing experience of powerlessness on the inside, which then leads to all sorts of compensatory external power expressions that leave him empty. A step back into consciousness would free him from this horrible chase and unveil where he can find the real thing.

Badminton is the most hardcore sport. People drop dead playing it.

Badminton makes tennis look gay.

Dropping dead isn't good for your health either. Let's do psychedelics and steroids first, then come up with an activity that the universe has never seen before. That's what I call exercise.

Well, no one is asking you to commit suicide by badminton. xD

I think it's just the witch-hunt culture today that exaggerates controversies into the most sensationalized form possible, where suddenly the person in question is satan themselves.

People love to demonize and witch-hunt, when really, any person would just see that Mike is a pretty flawed human being that also has some valuable things to say. It is amusing because of his profound narcissistic arrogance, but none of this is a serious offense worth considering much.

Everyone I listen to I basically consider flawed and unaligned with me in some shape or form. When people obsess about these things I get the sense that they are looking for figures of authority, hoping they can blindly trust someone. And when that authority is put in question, they suddenly feel betrayed or abandon the individual. It's quite childish, like a person going through puberty and realizing for the first time that their parents aren't an ultimate authority on what is good and true.

You can realize your parents are just human beings and still have things of value (hopefully) to extract from them. People are just too lazy to ascertain for themselves what is and is not valuable.

Like the guy is weaseling because of narcissistic embarassment, obviously. It's a character-flaw, obviously. And now what? You will try to go to the next guy who you think is a flawless human being? Most youtubers have profound flaws and pathologies, in fact, most humans do. I am not talking about little blindspots, but profound moral and character flaws. There are no ultimate authorities in this world.

@Carl-Richard That‘s certainly a possibility xD. I can see him very cleary, having consumed a not unsubstantial amount of edible marijuana, not being bothered to do any thinking.
