I showed my brother the Spiral Dynamics Stage Purple video which he listened to at work (he works with machineering metal parts) and he liked it. But I don't think he watched any more of them. Maybe I'll get him to watch the Stage Red one so he can start to see how things fit together. Grasping how Stage Red developed in the history of the world was an epiphany for me.

I've listened to Leo on the speakers once while he was explaining some metaphor that included a grandma getting raped to make some sort of radical point. I don't remember exact context but my dad got really offended.

Another time, while listening to Actualized on speakers again in my room, leo was going on about how stupid average people where in his typical confrontational tone, and my mom barged in upset and started arguing.

I had a period where I was suicidal and when I confessed this to my mom and stepdad they blamed "that weird bald guy" for it. Pretty funny in hindsight.

I no longer listen to actualized on the speaker. And I'm a little older now. It's exclusively my thing. It's too radical and off-putting to random uninitiated.

I know instantly what's valuable. I don't need 10 hours watching. I can sense it and as I watched  Leo's video about enlightenment, I knew that this was gold. As he introduced psychedelics I was so hooked I tried in the end every substance out he talked about (2 CB is the only one I missed). Before that I was not interested in drugs at all.

In the end I have showed this channel to a friend but he had zero interest. He watched in the end some hours alone and came to the conclusion that Leo is just some grifter guru.

Overall it was a waste of time and energy. Don't force ignorant people to this stuff.

You know I always felt Leo used examples of an extreme nature - and often negative/polarizing - to induce a mildly shocking state change through reaction. He walks you through a contemplation in real time - then BOOM a shockingly extreme example to induce a change of state. Like a verbal Zen stuck up the backside... :P

It just so happens that negativity gets people's attention - the brain is an error detecting machine. Constantly scanning for errors so you 'don't make that mistake again' -> learn & then survive. This means we naturally pay attention to negative things. Think negative news.

So, you can see how this is quite a crafty and sly way to induce realization in his audience! He used the natural process' of the brains survival mechanism to neatly serve insights

My 2c.

Deal with the issue now, on your terms, in your control. Or the issue will deal with you, in ways you won't appreciate, and cannot control.

Yeah, he knew it would resonate with his target audience. I remember being quite entertained by such tactics. It was delivering insight via entertainment, which is awesome. I used to laugh so hard at some of the shit he’d say, and I don’t even think he was trying to be funny, which made it even funnier.
