Kriya Yoga - where to start?

25 posts in this topic

Can someone recommend me good resources for learning kriya yoga? A cource / a book / a youtube channel.

I've never done it so its hard for me to discern bullshit from high quality stuff.

@Something Funny

First go purchase Leos Booklist, there are life changing books on kriya yoga that will cut out all fluff and bullshit. Get started and then come back and ask Leo for tips or share your experiences after some time. Take it seriously and stop distracting yourself

Do inner enginering. It will do you a lot better than the book

We have a Kirya yoga mega-thread that answers many newbie questions.

Follow the books.

I suggest focusing 100% on pranayama spinal breathing. All other techniques are tertiary and mostly unnecessary.

You could reduce all Kriya yoga to just pranayama and maha-mudra. Which makes it so simple.

@Something Funny yeah it's something I threw together for myself so I thought I might as well throw it down here.

I rather read this instead of the 103 pages of that megathread.

What assumptions, beliefs, or illusions am I under right now?

@Leo Gura Should I skip all the other techniques leading up to pranayama and maha-mudra? Or should I do all the lead up techniques, then when I can do/mastered pranayama and maha-mudra, drop the lead up techniques?

Just bought the J.C. Stevens's book. It will take a few weeks to arrive though.

I am also wondering about this. I feel that as a newbie, I will benefit from learning everything from scratch.

Yes

Leo, but you are saying it from the perspective of someone who has tried all of them and lots more. I think there is value in doing just that.

Nah, it's more like the Law of Pareto

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty.  We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Wise, Virtuous and AWAKE. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life GOD is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, because The Sun shines through All: Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God
