If we knew how well the middle class lives in China we would riot. China has solved poverty and homeless for its entire population in our lifetimes. They have 90% home ownership rate. Universal Healthcare, low crime rate, affordable high quality education, cheap electric cars, good environmental regulations, high speed rail, etc etc..compare that to the tent cities, mass shooting, toxic social media, culture wars, and fentanyl epidemics of the "free world". 

One major reason China is doing so well is because they don't have two parties undermining each other every 4 years. They have one party committed to improving the lives of its people, the environment, advancing technology.

We are deluding ourselves in the West at this point that we are in any way better than China. We need to stop infighting and pull out shit together to remain competitive. Heres a good video and channel on the topic....

Yeah, hopefully the US gets a Bernie Sanders type president for at least the next two terms. And if things go well, it might even be a longer term shift in a more compassionate direction.

China's government is less in bed with corporations compared to the US. 

Bad societal development is arguably just a matter of regulation to a certain extent, so when we get developments that are bad for society broadly speaking we have to ask why hasn't the government done anything about it. If the government is corrupt/innept then we have an issue.

Brilliant video and agree with your comment. Western frame works including Spiral Dynamics handicaps us in understanding other societies including ourselves - the map is not the territory.
 

Spiral dynamics isn’t a ladder as if to view societies within a hierarchy from, but a spiral where values / stages are embedded, constant, and context dependent - manifesting in various ways at all times - whether latent or dominant.

Life is not as linear, or black and white as it seems.
