Why dont I get Prestige in society?

19 posts in this topic

When on a clinic I get so much attention and deference things get a bit cultish.

But outside of It I am no one. And people dont really pay much attention to me or give me much praise.

Why? I know cults arent 'right' but why this disparity in attention and general lack of love from 'society'.

Why should random strangers give you love?

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

@Leo Gura Not you guys. I mean my family, the addicts on the halfway house and the medical, psychological and even spiritual community. Things just arent the same on 'society'

Because you don't exist to others. You're just an image to them. Even your family barley thinks about you.

You should be glad. With prestige comes responsibility. Now you don't owe that to society only to yourself. Leo has to be careful with what he says here because he's under intense scrutiny. He slips up and he gets chewed up and spit out. See all the posts about him when people don't think he's living up to his prestigious role as administrator and supposed role model.

Now, you can breathe and be yourself without constantly wondering what people think about you and if you're being and saying the right things in order to be accepted by others. You're wanting to fill a gap; but that gap can never be filled by being identified with prestige.

What you know leaves what you don't know and what you don't know is all there is.

Meanwhile, all those other people are wondering why you aren't giving them attention.

@Princess Arabia is really right. People who get more attention are under more scrutiny, more responsibility. Sure you want that?

And not just that. If you want an example of people getting widespread attention from the public, look at how fans interact with celebrities.

Receiving the projections of MILLIONS. It's not about the celebrity, it's about the fan. Imagine nosy people shoving themselves in your business all the time, having no privacy, repeating the same omg I'm such a fan, can we take a photo! Interaction a bazillion times. Not to mention the spooky, creepy shit that would go down.

Maybe your ego would feel massaged for a bit. But not long. Things are better as they are now.

@Santiago Ram I’d argue it’s, in part, because these places are often full of people who devoted their life to helping folks who have fallen on hard times. And to devote your life to that, generally, you have to be a very caring, empathetic and driven person imo.

So those places are filled with many caring, empathetic and driven people.

Then when you go back out into society you just experience the average person, who is quite a lot less caring and empathetic imo.

@Santiago Ram You were seen because the system was built for that, not cause you brought more worth. Society doesn’t hand you prestige, it mirrors what you bring, and right now you're not bringing much. That’s what you notice.

Thinking you're no one when you don't get attention isn't very deep, it's dependency.

Because most humans are doing the exact same you are doing. Namely, they are being selfish & thinking of themselves. Just walk down the street & notice most people have their head down lost in thought. Probably about their life story & how they are the hero of it.

The real question is why aren’t you the one doing the praising & the loving to others?

The average person becomes a doctor for prestige, respect, status and wealth not because they're interested in helping people.

The narrative in society is that a doctor is one of the highest most respected jobs on earth, and you need great levels of intellect and it is a huge achievement to become a doctor.

Becoming a doctor is viewed as an achievement by anyone that pursues it, it's orange not coming from the place of green.

Everyone is indoctrinated by society too place doctors on a pedestal unless you actually interact with them long enough to realize that they're just normal people and most of them with inflated egos.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

@Santiago Ram you're basically asking: Why am I not famous outside of the clinic?

You're getting blind respect from people because culture has indoctrinated all of them to respect your job.

Thanks to all of you guys.

I now am commited not to go to the Clinic.

I am young AND arrogant and I understand now that Prestige and attention aré impermanent. It might work for a while, maybe years or even decades but eventually someone younger and smarter Will take my place and overthrow me, even if I make my own Clinic AND do things well.

It Is a shorts term strategy trying to base my Life purpose on Prestige. If my intention was purely to help I would do It, but on examination, It Is contaminated by a desire for status AND deference.

I Will follow the Franciscan Path. I am aware of the epistemic dangers of this Path which Is what I Will keep studying Actualized org in secret.

Thank you all.

@Santiago Ram  It's still important to succeed financially in life, if starting a clinic is something you're motivated to do then there's no reason not to. Try to then apply everything you learned into the clinic.

Real prestige you care about is from the Self or God

Nobody gives a shit on the streets. People are too busy dealing with their own life. That is the natural state. It's a little weird to even think that that should be different, to be honest.

If you got constant attention from strangers it would get old quickly. It's legit one of the downsides of being really famous or a really attractive woman.

Maybe you were joking but I should definitely do this.

Well I would question your reasons for wanting to be influencial, relevant and famous but there are pretty systemized ways to do it. I would work on social skills and start posting on social media. This book is a good start.
