It's a bad theory. It failed to predict history.

Marx said that capitalism would not make the middle class prosperous and would not generate abundance. He was wrong. Capitalism succeeded beyond Marx's wildest dreams and society advanced from industrial factory economy to a services economy. Meanwhile every attempt at socialism failed to be sustainable and to generate as much prosperity as capitalism.

I would guess you believe that certain  government are useful at certain stages of development. But I’d be curious to know what you think the best society would be for human flourishing? Ie imagine you could build perfect society

The answer varies depending on the time period.

In our lifetime it will be capitalism. In 500 years maybe socialism will work.

Getting the timing right is critical. It does no good to implement a system 200 years too early.

That study is from 1986 and focuses on ‘Physical Quality of Life’ (PQL)—not sustainability. The ‘socialist’ countries praised include China, the USSR, Cuba, Vietnam, and North Korea. Here’s the reality:

China is now capitalist.

The USSR collapsed.

Cuba is limping along and only functioning with limited market reforms.

Vietnam only succeeded by going capitalist.

North Korea? Sure, maybe their PQL is great—if you ignore the gulags.

PQL is like buying a car for the comfy seats without noticing there’s no engine. It’s a snapshot, not a blueprint. It doesn’t answer the real question: Who’s going to pay for all this PQL? And the answer, in almost every case, is capitalism.

Socialism is a product of capitalism.

We’ve embraced the free market—and watched inequality grow, education thin out, everyday life get more stressful.

And this is where the left and right can actually agree:

The real problem isn’t each other.

It’s the hollow systems, the corrupt centralized powers, the soulless machinery that serves neither freedom nor care.

Dignity, sovereignty aren’t partisan. They’re human.

@Leo Gura this is so true. As I told somewhere here in the Forum. During the Spain Portugal Blackout I was at a Non Violent Communication Retreat. Water and Energy was off for just one day. The people in the retreat started to be very anxious and little bit agressive. The fear in the air. I guess the Communication would not keep non violent so long if the Blackout was for one month or more. When survival strikes all the facade falls, and humans realise they are not different than Jackals. They mau try to fake to be Giraffes as they wish, but the Jackal live inside.

I actually find in these non-violent communication and new age type of camps the people are quite weak minded and if the slightest thing goes wrong people are quick to give up, turn on each other, or fight. It's quite ironic because they talk about love the most but its paper thin. They are fundamentally quite weak and have big egos while certainly still playing into power structures as well. I gave up on these communities because it just oozes with bullshit and ego. Especially in the domain of relationships, they act like they have transcended the "tit for tat" I do this so you do that kind of relationships. Then when they do shitty selfish things it's under the guise of "honoring their authentic truth, boundaries' or "protecting their heart"

This has been my experience also! 

Always confusion around love being synonymous with harmony/positivity as a frequent commonality. 

Raising an issue was perceived as unloving, if it was a candid truth that got someone's heckles up. And I am not provocative with any malice. Maybe provocative when I know what the person needs to grow 😈 

Love comes in all forms, discipline, a hard earnest conversation, wiping someone's arse or vomit when sick. A parent laying hard structure so the child learns skills to operate when they leave the nest. 

Any forms of action that weren't overtly positive? Hateful. Despite the intent and source.

You both understand it perfectly. I was not even being part of the retreat,I was just giving organizational support but I could see and hear how people were communicating during the day and for me was almost imposible to connect. Was like their minds got a little impaired, unauthenticity and a exagerated sweetness, smelling shit underneat the honeyness. No surprise a girl was touched without consent during one of activities and was crying and 3 or 5 people around her trying to pacify or maybe even control the situation.

@Natasha Tori Maru  Yep. If it isn't "loving" then you are being a toxic person whose heart is closed. Even if someone is acting like shit, everyone tolerates them under the name of love.
